‘I Thought I Was Gonna Die’: Arman Tsarukyan Reveals Gunpoint Nightmare Kept Him Awake Before Mauricio Ruffy KO

The Armenian lightweight revealed he didn’t sleep after 4 am while cutting weight for the UFC 331 co-main event, but still knocked out Mauricio Ruffy.
Arman Tsarukyan lives up to his newfound moniker 'The Batman' not because he defends the city at night, but because his nightmares keep him up.
As real as it sounds, Tsarukyan wasn’t joking when he revealed it. Perhaps it was a byproduct of the weight-cut process that may have played with his mind before the fight.
Arman Tsarukyan Reveals His Nightmare to N3on and Nina Drama
Following his first-round knockout victory over Mauricio Ruffy last Saturday in Los Angeles, Tsarukyan celebrated the success by hosting a massive party along with Nina Drama and N3on.
During N3on’s Kick stream, Tsarukyan casually shared a nightmare in which he was held at gunpoint by a drunk guy. He admitted that the man’s red eyes scared him, and the nightmare woke him up from his sleep.
"I thought I'm gonna die and I have a fight tomorrow. No way… Please don't kill me, I'll give you the watch, whatever you want. 4AM I woke up and couldn't sleep anymore," Tsarukyan said.
Despite not getting enough sleep, the Armenian wrestler overcame a heavy striking favorite. With this win, he has made his place clear in the title picture.
Tsarukyan Deserves the Title Fight Next
Tsarukyan missed his first title fight opportunity in 2025 against Islam Makhachev after he pulled out of the bout due to a back injury.
Ever since then, he has been waiting for his time and has never lost a bout. He is on a six-fight win streak now and has wins over top contenders.
Even the champion Justin Gaethje said Tsarukyan needs a stoppage for a title fight next. And Tsarukyan has certainly delivered that.
After UFC 331, Dana White also confirmed that Tsarukyan will get the next title shot. Thus, Gaethje vs. Tsarukyan seems likely, but the fight will probably take place in early 2027 as Gaethje recovers from injuries.
