Michael Chandler has alluded to his most recent professional MMA matchup and sent a heartwarming message regarding the same.

"Iron" Michael Chandler shares touching message, snaps of luxurious travel for UFC Freedom 250

America's Michael Chandler is coming off a first-round TKO defeat against Brazil's Mauricio Ruffy. Their lightweight showdown transpired at the historic UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House earlier this month.

It marked the former Bellator lightweight champion's fourth consecutive MMA loss. As such, a number of fans and critics have expressed their concerns about Chandler's standing as an elite fighter in the UFC.

There's been speculation about whether the lengthy losing streak -- as well as his overall UFC record of 2-6 -- could cost him his spot on the UFC roster.

For his part, Chandler has indicated that he's taking the latest defeat in his stride. He's put forth an Instagram post, comprising a few photographs of himself and his team -- including his wife Brie and their children, as well as other friends and family.

Well, longtime UFC fan and current U.S. President Donald Trump is said to have played a pivotal role in facilitating the organization of UFC Freedom 250 at the White House. Trump was himself in attendance for the fights.

On that note, Chandler seemed to reference a term -- the adverb bigly -- which was popularized in America by Trump during his political campaigning opposite Hillary Clinton back in 2016.

In the statement attached to his aforementioned Instagram post, Chandler spoke about his TKO loss to Ruffy and wrote, "To the world it was a "failure" but their definition is skewed...we already won. And we won BIGLY."

Chandler further stated, "Walk on. See you at the top!" He also expressed his gratitude for his brother, Eric Chandler, for the behind-the-scenes photographs of the opulence in which he and his entourage traveled for UFC Freedom 250.

The veteran fighter noted, "Thanks to @eric_chandler for having and old-school camera..."

A look at Michael Chandler's run in the UFC

Michael Chandler made his UFC debut in an electrifying manner, knocking out then-top lightweight contender Dan Hooker in the very first round. He subsequently faced Charles Olivieira for the vacant UFC lightweight title, almost knocking out Oliveira before being stopped by TKO in round two.

Those fights were back in 2021. Coming to the here and now, Chandler has just a pair of UFC wins to his name overall, while he's lost six times inside the octagon. Moreover, his high-profile welterweight fight against combat sports megastar Conor McGregor at UFC 303 in 2024 fell apart due to McGregor's toe injury.

Furthermore, Chandler's current four-fight losing streak includes a submission loss against Dustin Poirier in 2022, as well as a unanimous decision defeat in his rematch against Charles Oliveira in 2024.

The 40-year-old was then TKO'd by Paddy "The Baddy" Pimblett last year and by Mauricio Ruffy this month. As of this time, Chandler's next opponent and comeback date haven't been officially finalized.

Nevertheless, Chandler has apparently signaled that he's not going to let his losses deter him as he continues his pursuit of MMA glory in the UFC.
