Max Holloway's assessment of Conor McGregor's UFC 329 antics caused 'The Notorious' to jibe at 'Blessed' with an embarrassing stat.

Conor McGregor isn't among the ones who shy away from firing back at his critics, and this time he locked his radar on his UFC 329 rival, Max Holloway.

Lately, Holloway analysed McGregor's disastrous performance at UFC 329 and highlighted multiple flaws in his game. However, 'The Notorious' jibed back at 'Blessed' by pointing at a rather unwanted record held by the Hawaiian.

Conor McGregor Mocks Max Holloway for Being 'most punched face' in UFC

McGregor's UFC comeback fight against Holloway at UFC 329 went terribly wrong as the Irishman injured his right ACL while throwing his first strike, a roundhouse kick. Holloway won the fight without absorbing a single strike as referee Herb Dean called an end to it after a few moments observing McGregor's condition.

A day ago, Holloway uploaded a YouTube video where he expressed his observations about McGregor's game at UFC 329. Despite McGregor's reputation as one of the most formidable strikers in the UFC, Holloway mentioned, "Dude is delusional cuz to me, he felt slow in there. He felt slow. He looked old."

'The Notorious' clearly wasn't impressed by his adversary's remarks. He activated his social media fingers and returned fire with a now-deleted X update that highlighted an undesirable record held by Holloway.

McGregor penned, "There's no way the most punched face in UFC history (check the stats) is talking this way? wtf happened to this guy?"

Additionally, McGregor used AI to respond to Holloway's claim that he looked "old." He asked AI to compare their appearances in a photo collage featuring them side-by-side. The tool opined that Holloway looked older in it.

Well, who looks older in McGregor's highlighted collage is up for debate, but many might have doubts about McGregor's allegedly stat-based claim of Holloway being the "most punched face in UFC history." So let's delve into a fact-check about this.

Is Conor McGregor Right in Calling Max Holloway the ‘Most Punched Face’ in UFC History?

Currently, Holloway sits at the top spot of the all-time signature strikes landed category with a score of 3,693, which makes McGregor's claim even harder to believe. However, an October 2024 report from Fightbook MMA revealed that 'The Notorious's' words weren't far from reality.

The report was published before Holloway's UFC 308 encounter against Ilia Topuria, and it disclosed that 'Blessed' had absorbed a total of 2,223 significant strikes in his career till that point, the most by any fighter in UFC history.

It's quite apparent that McGregor's claim of Holloway having the "most punched face in UFC history" was authentic until 'Blessed's' UFC 308 encounter. Does it hold to date?

While a rundown through the UFC website's Record Book page is enough to trace the fighters leading in the all-time signature strikes landed department, it is significantly harder to find which fighters are on the list of the most signature strikes absorbed.

Hence, we used AI to determine if Holloway still leads this undesirable department. Elon Musk's GrokAI answered affirmatively, revealing that 'Blessed' is still at the top of the all-time signature strikes absorbed list, taking approximately 2,457 significant strikes in his career so far.

It said, "Yes, Max Holloway holds the highest cumulative (career total) significant strikes absorbed among active UFC fighters (and all-time in UFC history). Official and recent tracking data (from ufcstats.com-linked sources and UFC stats aggregators current as of mid-2026) put Holloway’s career total significant strikes absorbed at approximately 2,457."

The literal meaning of McGregor's remark may not be authentic, as impactful strikes to the body and legs are also counted as significant strikes. But the reason why he called Holloway the "most punched face in UFC history" is clearly understandable.
