Navajo Stirling targets Paulo Costa or Khalil Rountree after UFC Belgrade win
The light heavyweight prospect wants to return to the Octagon in October or November and has already identified two potential opponents.
Navajo Stirling continues his rise in the UFC and has no intention of slowing down. Last Saturday, the light heavyweight stepped into the Octagon for the third time this year to defeat Jan Blachowicz by TKO at UFC Belgrade. After the outstanding performance, Stirling called for fights against Paulo Costa or Khalil Rountree Jr., while making it clear he is willing to face anyone the UFC puts in front of him.
Navajo Stirling Looking for Fourth Fight This Year
Stirling is not interested in taking a long break after his latest victory. In fact, the New Zealander aims to return to the Octagon as early as October or November, in what would be his fourth appearance in 2026. Speaking at a post-fight press conference following UFC Belgrade, Stirling discussed his plans and said he believes Costa or Rountree would be logical opponents for his next fight. He also made it clear he is open to facing anyone else the UFC proposes.
"I would love to fight in October or November," Stirling began. "Costa or Rountree, I don't know when they want to fight but I'm here. Those are the fights that make sense to me. But I don't mind fighting anyone below me as well. I don't really give a shit about the rankings right now. Anyone who wants to fight, you know where I'm at."
Navajo Stirling Remains Undefeated in His Career
Although Stirling has specific names in mind, he is also willing to face whoever comes next. That confidence is understandable given his current form. Undefeated in his professional MMA career, Stirling has won his last three fights by TKO, including victories against Ion Cutelaba and now Blachowicz. As he takes aim at Costa and Rountree, the New Zealander looks to add another big win to his record as he climbs the division toward title contention.
With three wins already under his belt in 2026, Stirling appears to be positioning himself for a quick climb up the light heavyweight rankings. Whether Costa, Rountree or another contender is next, the New Zealander has made it clear he wants to stay active as he continues his pursuit of a place among the division's top fighters.
