Sean Strickland has shared his personal insight into how fighters deal with losses, narrowing it down to two ways, one of which he doesn't respect.

Sean Strickland recently took to X to share some wisdom on how fighters handle losses. According to the him, fighters tend to react to defeat in two ways, one of which he believes should not be respected.

Sean Strickland defines two kind of fighters

Besides unique cases like Khabib Nurmagomedov, who retired undefeated at 29-0, most fighters suffer a loss at some point. How they handle those losses varies from fighter to fighter. However, Sean Strickland has opined that there are two ways in which fighters deal with losses on average. As a two-time UFC middleweight champion, Strickland himself is no stranger to losing, having faced defeat in title fights, where emotions run highest. Based on his experience, fighters deal with losses in one of the following ways.

"There are 2 kinds of fighters in the UFC after a hard fight.. 1. You walk into the gym broken, depressed and you get back to work. Or 2. You vanish for months, hide, take the easy way out.. I see this all the time. I've never respected number 2. Pathetic and weak minded."

Whether Strickland is indirectly taking aim at certain fighters without outright naming them remains to be seen, but there are several high-profile fighters who have reacted to losses poorly.

Ilia Topuria, who lost his lightweight title to Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250, suffering a brutal fourth-round TKO, has been completely silent. A once prolific trash talker with bottomless confidence, he has said nothing on social media since early June and has not taken part in any interviews. Another fighter who vanished after a loss was Ronda Rousey, who disappeared from the public eye for months after losing her women's bantamweight title to Holly Holm via second-round knockout at UFC 193.

When asked by a fan how he himself reacts to losses, Strickland was direct.

"I cannot be broken. I can lose sure, but I'll never break."

To his credit, he usually responds well to his losses, almost immediately heading back to the drawing board.

Right now, he is still on his victory lap after dethroning Khamzat Chimaev as middleweight champion at UFC 328, where he won via split-decision. But as he gears up to make his octagon return, he is already eyeing a rematch with 'Borz.'
