Thai striking specialist Shadow Singha Mawynn is thrilled about earning an unexpected shot at the ONE Interim Featherweight Muay Thai World Championship.
Ahead of his co-main event clash at ONE Fight Night 40 on Friday, February 13, at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, he broke down Scottish knockout artist Nico Carrillo’s dangerous attributes.
The Singha Mawynn representative revealed his surprise at receiving such a significant fight while acknowledging the interim belt’s importance.
Shadow detailed Carrillo’s physical advantages and perfect finishing rate as primary threats requiring tactical adjustments he’ll need to make at ONE Fight Night 40. The Thai contender also reflected on his journey from promotional debut loss to title contention through determination and consistent performances.
Thai Contender Thrilled by Title Opportunity at ONE Fight Night 40

Discussing how he received news of the interim title bout at ONE Fight Night 40, the Thai contender expressed genuine excitement about competing for the 26-pound golden belt despite not anticipating such a significant opportunity at this stage of his career.
“When I found out it was going to be an Interim World Championship match, I was super excited. I had never expected to be in such a big fight. Even though it is an interim, it’s still great for many,” Shadow said.
The Thai contender made his ONE Friday Fights debut in 2024 with a unanimous decision loss. Since that setback, he hasn’t lost a single Muay Thai bout while building momentum that earned him a six-figure main roster contract.
Shadow Analyzes Scottish Destroyer’s Dangerous Attributes Before ONE Fight Night 40
Shadow identified specific physical and technical advantages that make Carrillo one of the featherweight Muay Thai division’s most dangerous finishers. The Thai contender pointed out the Scottish striker’s size, power, and perfect finishing rate as attributes requiring preparation.
“Nico’s strengths include his physical strength, his large size, and his very powerful fists and elbows. As a fighter, he is really skilled, equipped with a 100 percent rate because he has knocked out almost every single opponent,” the Thai said ahead of their World Title bout at ONE Fight Night 40.
The detailed assessment reveals respect for an opponent who has finished all six promotional victories through devastating striking. Carrillo’s recent move to featherweight produced consecutive second-round stoppages of Thai veteran Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong and American standout Luke Lessei, proving his power translates effectively to the higher weight class.
Thai Striker Credits Determination for Title Ascension
Shadow credited his success to unwavering determination despite facing difficult opposition throughout his promotional tenure. The 25-year-old focused on his unwavering forward mentality, acknowledging that title contention means the only way is forward.
“Looking back to the day I stepped into ONE, I lost in the first match. None of the opponents were easy. It might be because of my determination that brought me into this stage. Since I am here now, there’s no way back. I got to keep going forward,” Shadow said.
A victory would establish the Bangkok native as the division’s interim king while setting up an eventual unification bout with Tawanchai. The stylistic clash between Shadow’s technical Muay Thai skills and Carrillo’s explosive Scottish power promises fireworks as two hungry contenders compete for the gold.
ONE Fight Night 40 airs live on Prime Video on Friday, February 13. The action begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The event is free for all Amazon Prime subscribers in the U.S. and Canada.
