Alexander Hernandez revealed a hilarious moment when he was interviewed by the Feds for alleged fight-fixing allegations.

When federal agents investigate potential sports gambling scandals, they usually search for encrypted chat networks and massive money transfers. For UFC lightweight Alexander Hernandez, however, a federal inquiry regarding his canceled bout against veteran striker Michael Johnson produced an entirely different kind of cringeworthy reveal.

Recalling the surreal experience, the 33-year-old fighter detailed being questioned over wild allegations that he planned to throw the scheduled matchup. Federal authorities wasted no time pressing him on his phone usage, asking if he carried any suspicious applications capable of masking illicit communications.

An Embarrassing Exchange, Not a Federal Crime

"They’re like, ‘Do you have any incriminating apps?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t even know what an incriminating app would look like,’" Hernandez shared when describing the interrogation.

When agents specifically pointed to the encrypted messaging app Signal, Hernandez opened the platform to check his history. Far from uncovering an insider trading conspiracy or a fight-fixing ring, the app revealed just two items: a random spam bot and a tiny personal purchase from an old trip south of the border.

"One was a bot message saying hey or something, and the other was me buying like a gram of weed in Brazil," Hernandez said. "I was like, ‘Okay, that’s kind of embarrassing. That’s a p***y amount, I’ll admit that, but it was certainly not insider trading, not throwing a f***ing fight.’"

The moment was undeniably awkward, but the San Antonio native made it crystal clear that his record in the sport remains clean. Holding an 18-9 professional record with 10 wins inside the UFC, including five victories by knockout, Hernandez maintains that his focus is purely on competing at the highest level. While having federal agents read his personal chat history wasn't on his bucket list, Hernandez took the bizarre interrogation in stride. "Embarrassing exchange, sure," he noted.
