Rafael dos Anjos returns at UFC 332 against Alexander Hernandez

The former UFC lightweight champion will return to the Octagon after nearly two years away from competition when he faces Hernandez in October.
Rafael dos Anjos has a date to return to the Octagon. Nearly two years after his last fight, the former UFC Lightweight Champion is expected to face Alexander Hernandez in a welterweight bout at UFC 332, scheduled to take place on Oct. 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The matchup was reported by ESPN Brasil, although the UFC is still expected to make an official announcement.
Rafael Dos Anjos Returns After Nearly Two Years Away
At 41 years old, Dos Anjos has seen better days inside the Octagon. Since 2022, the Brazilian has compiled a 2-4 record and has lost his last three fights. In October 2024, during his last appearance against Geoff Neal, the former champion suffered a serious injury when he tore the ACL and meniscus in his left knee just 90 seconds into the opening round. Since then, RDA has faced a brutal recovery process, undergoing three surgeries during that period.
Now ready to compete again, Dos Anjos will return at welterweight as he looks to end his three-fight losing streak and prove he can still compete at a high level.
Alexander Hernandez Looks to Bounce Back
As for Hernandez, the American is also looking to bounce back after losing by unanimous decision to Rafa GarcĆa in his last Octagon appearance. Before that setback, Hernandez was in good form, riding a four-fight winning streak.
The matchup against RDA represents another significant test for Hernandez, who will face one of the most experienced fighters of his career. A win over the former UFC lightweight champion would allow the American to get back on track and build momentum in the welterweight division.
For Dos Anjos, meanwhile, the fight represents an opportunity to put a difficult period behind him and begin a new chapter following his lengthy recovery. With both fighters looking to bounce back from recent setbacks, their matchup at UFC 332 could be an important moment for their respective careers.
