Bantamweight knockout artist Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai hopes to punch his ticket to a US$100,000 contract at ONE Friday Fights 114.
The Thai hitter meets #3-ranked bantamweight Muay Thai contender Felipe Lobo at ONE Friday Fights 114 inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium, on June 27, and should he prevail, he could immediately inject himself into the World Title conversation.
Veterans Lobo and Kulabdam Lock Horns Next Friday
Lobo and Kulabdam are both stalwarts of the Muay Thai leagues. But despite their tenures dating back over five years respectively, this is the first time they’ll be crossing paths.
With that said, the Thai star is relishing the upcoming matchup. He believes Lobo stands in the way of unlimited possibilities. And with all eyes on their inevitably explosive main event, Kulabdam plans to leave nothing on the wayside to prove his worth.
“I’m very happy because Felipe is a ranked fighter. I think the promotion must see something in me to match me up against Felipe,” Kulabdam stated.
“If I can win impressively, I might get to compete as a contracted ONE athlete again. It’s a great honor to be the main event, and I will give it my all to live up to this opportunity.”
Expect Fireworks Between Kulabdam and Lobo June 27
What makes this match-up so exciting is the knockout caliber possessed by both men. Kulabdam rides a devastating three-fight winning streak into the contest. In that streak, he put his “Left Meteorite” to good use to score a second-round knockout of Suablack Tor Pran49 and a first-time blistering of Ferzan Cicek at ONE Friday Fights 103 this past April.
Meanwhile, Lobo showcased his one-punch power as he stormed through Saemapetch Fairtex in February at ONE Fight Night 28 in the second stanza.
Given that common stopping power, Kulabdam is bracing himself for an all-out slugfest. He doesn’t envision it going past the second round, but if the opportunity to end it presents itself earlier, he won’t think twice about pulling the trigger.
“There’s an 80 percent chance the fight won’t go the distance. It will probably end in the second round because I like to observe in the first round. But if he comes out strong in the first round, then I’m ready to go for the finish,” he said.
“If [Lobo] makes a mistake and gets hit by my punch, he’ll definitely go down. But I won’t underestimate him because his punches are good too. However, I’m confident in my own punches. It just depends on who makes the first mistake.”
