After White House Success, Dana White Teases UFC’s Next Jaw-Dropping Event : "Hopefully I can get this thing done"
UFC Noche, UFC Sphere, and UFC White House have shattered expectations, but Dana White may not be done yet. After pulling off the seemingly impossible with the White House event, the UFC boss is teasing yet another “Impossible” event that the fans might witness very soon.
Earlier this week, the UFC head honcho revealed that the promotion’s latest blockbuster success had already sparked another ambitious idea. According to White, UFC head of production Craig Borsari is reportedly working on the next big event.
The White House Was Just the Beginning for Dana White
Recently, while speaking with TMZ Sports, Dana White praised Craig Borsari for the commendable job he did in ensuring the ‘White House’ event was a success. White also revealed that the promotion is already planning something even bigger.
“What Cocky Craig came up with is a great idea, and if we can make it happen — I have a couple of calls after this weekend to see if we can get it done. And then he’s going to fly out and start doing some … recon work on the impossible event,” said Dana White.
What could be the next big thing? Is the promotion shifting its focus back to Europe? Will UFC CEO Dana White finally give Ilia Topuria his Santiago Bernabéu Stadium fight, or will the promotion take the Octagon to the Roman Colosseum? Or is something even bigger in the works? White has kept his lips sealed but assured fans that an announcement is coming soon.
“Hopefully I can get this thing done next week and some of the stuff that I have to do, and then he can go walk the site, and hopefully we can announce something soon,” said the UFC CEO.
While the UFC has gone beyond expectations every time, one question still remains: will they be able to topple the craze surrounding UFC White House and UFC Sphere? A Colosseum event might certainly do that, but an expense of $150 million could be too much for the promotion to bear.
That said, according to Dana White, nothing will ever topple the White House.
White House Was the UFC’s Peak, Says UFC CEO
Having an MMA fight at the South Lawn was something nobody could have expected in the history of politics, but Dana White certainly made it happen. And although the promotion had to take a $30 million loss despite drawing 34 million viewers globally, Dana White considers it the epitome of peak.
“There’s no doubt about it,” White said. “There’s no doubt about it. It was such an incredible night, and the way that the story played out with the storm breaking and going around the White House,” said White.
He further added, “Obviously my relationship with the president and the lead-up to all that, what Borsari pulled off, not just there but on the Ellipse, too, the amount of people that showed up, the highlights from the thing, America’s 250th birthday — nothing’s ever going to beat that.”
While the UFC CEO has expressed that there won’t be another UFC White House in the future, the bar the promotion has set might never be breached by any combat sport, even if they try. That said, what are your thoughts on the next big event?
