“Best Matchmaking, Fking Period”: Dana White Defends DWCS After 0-8 Opponent Callout
A reporter asked Dana White a question about the UFC's matchmaking, and the CEO did not like it one bit, snapping back at the reporter, saying the UFC has the best matchmaking.
If there is one thing Dana White will defend to the absolute death, it's the quality of matchmaking inside the UFC. Following another action-packed night at Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, the UFC CEO was in high spirits after handing out five contracts to deserving prospects.
However, things got spicy backstage during the post-fight press conference when a journalist questioned the padded records on the regional circuit, specifically pointing out that one contract winner had previously beaten an opponent with an 0-8 record.
White immediately shot down any insinuation that UFC talent scouts or long-time matchmakers Mick Maynard and Sean Shelby were slipping on the job.
"We have the best matchmaking, fking period, ever in the history of matchmaking," White fired back at reporters.
For White, regional fight records often fail to tell the entire story. Young prospects frequently struggle to find opponents on short notice or end up taking whatever fights local promoters can put together just to stay active. Once these fighters step inside the Contender Series cage, however, the playing field is entirely reset, and soft matchups become a thing of the past.

Irish welterweight Adam Darby delivered a striking clinic, breaking down an exceptionally durable Patrick Rivera before securing a third-round doctor-stoppage TKO victory. Meanwhile, Mexican lightweight Silvestre Sanchez produced one of the night's defining moments, dropping Liam McCracken with a massive third-round left hook to secure a TKO victory just as White was debating his contractual fate.
Heavyweight prospect Gabriel Lorenco needed just two minutes to unleash a violent finishing barrage on Charlie Cleveland, while middleweight Modestino Rodrigues blitzed Brandon Holmes for a rapid 15-second knockout.
