Conor McGregor started UFC 329 fight week by giving the fans some bulletin board material.

Few defeats would have shaken a fighter's belief more than Conor McGregor's submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov, yet if there's one thing the Irishman has never been short of, it's confidence. More than five years have passed since he last had his hand raised in the UFC, but McGregor still speaks like a man convinced another championship run is within reach.

If McGregor's latest comments are anything to go by, the Dubliner remains convinced that his biggest achievements are still ahead of him. In a characteristically bold statement, "The Notorious" declared that he is still in his prime and has no intention of settling for what he's already accomplished.

Conor McGregor Believes he Still Has More to Achieve

For most fighters, becoming the UFC's first simultaneous two-division champion would be enough to cement a legacy. “Mystic Mac,” however, insists he's nowhere near satisfied. Speaking about his ambitions, the 37-year-old made it clear that he still sees himself in the hunt for greatness.

"I feel there's so much left for me to conquer in this game," Conor McGregor began. "So much more accolades, more belts, more knockouts, more records, more cash… I'm taking everything of what I've built." The fighter-turned-entrepreneur doubled down on that confidence by claiming the combat sports landscape still revolves around him.

"The fight game and the combat sport world is McGregor's world and I'm in my prime here now," he continued. "So, it is on me now to go and show that and that's what I will do."

Conor McGregor Optimistic About Another Championship Chase

The comments reflect the same self-belief that propelled McGregor to global superstardom. Although he hasn't fought since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021 and has endured multiple delays to his comeback, he continues to speak as though another title run remains well within reach.

That said, his lengthy hiatus from active competition has naturally raised questions about how much the former champion has left, particularly in a lightweight division packed with young and coming contenders.

Max Holloway Praises McGregor's Honesty Ahead of UFC 329

While McGregor's latest comments centered on his ambitions inside the cage, the former UFC Lightweight Champion has also recently drawn praise for opening up about a far more

McGregor recently spoke candidly about his struggles with addiction, choosing to discuss a subject that many high-profile athletes rarely address publicly. His remarks resonated across the MMA community, including his opponent, Holloway.

Speaking during a recent interview, the Hawaiian applauded McGregor for using his platform to speak honestly about an issue that affects countless people.

"It takes a real man to come out and talk about his feelings. With the influence he has, bringing it up will encourage more people to talk about it. Shoutout to him for doing that."

Holloway added that combat sports often create an expectation for athletes to appear mentally tough at all times, making conversations surrounding addiction and emotional struggles particularly difficult.  In his view, McGregor's willingness to speak openly could encourage others facing similar challenges to seek help rather than keep those struggles to themselves.

What Happens Now?

The two fighters famously met inside the Octagon more than a decade ago, with McGregor handing Holloway one of the earliest defeats of his UFC career. Despite that shared history, Holloway was quick to put competition aside, choosing instead to recognize what he believes was an important message from one of the sport's biggest stars.
