Dan Hooker issues warning to Salahdine Parnasse before UFC Paris main event fight

Dan Hooker has indicated that he plans to spoil Salahdine Parnasse's highly anticipated UFC debut in France. 

Hooker, who's competed in the UFC featherweight and lightweight divisions, has been a notable member of the consensus world's premier MMA organization's roster since 2014. 

The New Zealander has been booked to clash against Parnasse in the headlining match of UFC Paris, an event which will transpire at the Accor Arena in Paris, on September 5.

During a recent conversation with Denis Shkuratov on Submission Radio, perennial UFC lightweight contender Dan Hooker affirmed that he remains undeterred in his quest to reach the top of his division. 

Hooker alluded to the speculation surrounding a possible fight between himself and King Green (formerly known as Bobby Green). Incidentally, they were scheduled to clash in 2023, but the Kiwi combatant withdrew due to injury, and his matchup against Green fell apart. 

Hooker signaled that although the Green fight hasn't come to fruition, he's looking forward to fighting Parnasse. Issuing a warning to the French-Moroccan fighter, the kickboxing veteran stated: 

"Yeah. Good fight, obviously. Look, I was just looking for a fight, and I said I was ready to go, uh, September. We approached the UFC about the Bobby Green fight. And yeah, they came back with this French kid in the main event for a sh**load of money."

He continued, "And I said that's what I'm here for. I'm here to ruin hopes and dreams. This kid wants to come in, make a name for himself, crack the top 10. He wants to be a superstar. Well, I'm going to fly to France, and I'm going to f**k everyone's night up. That's my plan." 

Moreover, "The Hangman" suggested that fighting King Green wouldn't have done much for him in terms of gaining upward momentum in the division, but taking on Parnasse would. He implied that beating the much-talked-about lightweight star would help him shut a lot of his detractors up.

A closer look at Dan Hooker's UFC Paris opponent, Salahdine Parnasse

Salahdine Parnasse has often earned laudation for having already notched many accolades, including double champion status in the KSW, at a relatively young age. 

The 28-year-old enjoyed two reigns as the KSW featherweight champion and one as the KSW lightweight champion. Parnasse attempted to capture the KSW welterweight title, but he came up short, losing to Adrian Bartosinski by way of unanimous decision in 2023. 

Parnasse subsequently racked up five consecutive wins, with his latest being a first-round TKO against Kenneth Cross at the inaugural MVP MMA event headlined by Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano back in May. 

As for Dan Hooker, he's on a two-fight losing streak. The veteran fighter was submitted by Arman Tsarukyan late last year and was stopped via TKO by Benoit Saint Denis earlier this year. 

Hooker currently stands at the No. 12 position in the official Meta UFC rankings. He's also held in high regard for his longevity in the UFC, his recent setbacks notwithstanding. 

Ergo, the consensus is that if Parnasse beats Hooker, he'd likely earn a fight against a top-10 ranked opponent next. Alternatively, Hooker's victory against a highly touted young lightweight could pave the way for his reentry into the upper echelons of the 155-pound division.
