After losing two in a row, UFC welterweight Demian Maia won his latest against Alexander Yakovlev at the TUF Brazil 3 Finale. Unfortunately he is now fighting a bone infection in his right clavicle.

The infection was announced on FOX Sports 1’s UFC Tonight and there is no timetable for his return.

Maia (19-6) made the drop to welterweight at UFC 148 and it kicked off with a bang, as he finished Dong Hyun Kim via TKO. He then went on to win his next two against Rick Story and Jon Fitch.

By definition the causes of a clavicle infection are as follows: OsteomyelitisMyositisCervical rib and Skin wounds around the clavicle.
