Dillon Danis has opened up about his views on Conor McGregor's injury-ridden defeat in his comeback fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329.

Dillon Danis has put forth a detailed statement regarding his longtime friend Conor McGregor's recent mishap in his comeback fight.

The RAF (Real American Freestyle) wrestling star hit back against McGregor's detractors, particularly against professional fighters, who have been jibing at the Irishman after the worrisome leg injury he sustained in his welterweight clash at UFC 329 last Saturday.

Dillon Danis expressed his respect for MMA great Conor McGregor after "The Notorious" was beaten by Max Holloway at UFC 329

Former UFC featherweight and lightweight kingpin Conor McGregor suffered -- what many fans consider to be -- one of the most gruesome injuries at UFC 264 in July of 2021. He was afflicted by a broken left leg mid-fight against Dustin Poirier in their lightweight matchup.

What followed was a five-year hiatus from professional combat sports competition altogether for McGregor. "Mystic Mac" was linked to several potential matchups in MMA, even being connected with a possible big-money boxing crossover fight against Manny Pacquiao. Regardless, nothing came to be.

McGregor was officially booked to face Michael Chandler in a welterweight matchup at UFC 303, which was a much-awaited matchup set to transpire in June of 2024. But a toe injury ruled the Dubliner out of it, and the Chandler feud remained bereft of a fight.

Finally, McGregor was able to return to the octagon against Max Holloway, a fighter he'd decisively defeated via unanimous decision at featherweight in August of 2013. They headlined UFC 329 on July 11, and a freak injury to McGregor's right leg marred the fight right away, resulting in his losing via TKO.

Holloway, on his part, has campaigned for a trilogy clash against McGregor. Meanwhile, the latter has vowed to recover and return for the final fight of his current UFC contract.

All things considered, some of McGregor's critics, including a few fighters such as UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev and retired UFC staple Dustin Poirier, have castigated the Irishman.

A few others, on the contrary, have affirmed that they'd rather not speak ill of "The Notorious" one during the challenging phase he's going through.

Dillon Danis, who extensively served as one of Conor McGregor's primary training partners over the years, has now made an X post comprising a statement about his views on the UFC 329 debacle. Danis hailed McGregor for his extraordinary box office appeal and for elevating fighter pay across the sport.

Danis wrote, "You're all a bunch of f**king b*ms hating on my brother's name, especially fighters. Without Conor McGregor, everyone in MMA would still be making 10K fighting on Spike TV. He changed the game forever."

He added, "Watching him fight through things people don't come back from inspires me to keep facing my own demons. He didn't have to go for it, but he still did for the love of the game. That's what separates him. A real m*therf**king G."

Revealing the personal impact McGregor had on him, he noted, "Nobody knows the real man. He taught me the game, taught me about life, and so much more than I could ever put into words. He taught me how to believe in myself, think bigger, trust my instincts, keep going when the whole world doubts you, and never settle."

"I'll always be grateful for everything he's taught me and everything he continues to teach me. My brother for life." Danis added with a 'fingers crossed' emoji, indicating that he's hoping for the best for McGregor.

Danis continued, "If you hate on that, you'll never achieve greatness. Always up. The legend. The best ever to do it. McGregor forever." The X post also comprised a photograph of the American fighter smilingly embracing McGregor.

Dillon Danis and Conor McGregor eye a return to their winning ways after RAF 10 and UFC 329, respectively

Dillon Danis, a multiple-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion, faced fellow grappling savant Khamzat Chimaev in a catchweight freestyle wrestling matchup that headlined RAF 10 last month.

The match ended quite swiftly, with the former UFC middleweight champion beating Danis via pinfall in the very first period.

However, "El Jefe" was believed to have attempted a guillotine choke against Chimaev and seemed to hold on to the Chechen fighter's leg after their match was done.

Chimaev's entourage soon jumped in and joined the UFC star in attacking Danis. The huge brawl was controlled by security personnel, but elicited considerable condemnation from several quarters. The 32-year-old Danis would be looking to return to his winning ways after going 0-2 in as many matches in the RAF thus far.

On the other hand, Conor McGregor's setback at UFC 329 marked his third consecutive MMA defeat. The 38-year-old would, needless to say, be eyeing a return to the win column.

McGregor had previously revealed that the UFC is likely to book his next, and final fight on his contract with them, for April of 2027. Furthermore, his recovery from his recent right leg injury is yet another hurdle he'd have to overcome before his eventual comeback.
