“I just know it”: Muhammad Mokaev claims he is the best flyweight and sends warning to UFC fighters

Muhammad Mokaev believes he is the best flyweight in MMA despite not being in the UFC, as UFC champions are often seen as the greatest athletes in their respective divisions. 

Mokaev doesn't go with that narrative, feels he is the best, and has sent a warning to fighters competing in the UFC.

After his win over Moris Boleyan to capture the ACBJJ 60kg title, Mokaev spoke with Red Corner MMA. He was asked if he believes he is the best flyweight in MMA. He responded confidently and claimed he is the best flyweight despite his UFC exit. 

“I just know it,” Mokaev told Red Corner MMA. 

Mokaev criticizes UFC for not giving him a chance to compete for the flyweight title. He says he plans to continue collecting championship belts outside the promotion while targeting UFC fighters.

“I know they just didn’t give me a chance to get the belt. I’ll keep collecting belts all over the world and calling their fighters out,” he added.

Mokaev after his victory over  Manel Kape at UFC 304. Many fans believe the UFC flyweight title shot is next for him to prove himself as the best flyweight in the world. However, at the post-event press conference, Dana White announced that they wouldn't be renewing Mokaev's UFC contract and released him. 

This announcement wasn't much of a shocker, as talks had already been underway before Mokaev's last fight. The reason for not resigning him despite being 7-0 in the promotion was a combination of out-of-the-cage altercations, friction with UFC matchmakers, and a lackluster fighting style that prioritized control over finishes. 

Since then, Mokaev has called out UFC brass many times but has also expressed a desire to be re-signed. That said, he recently called out UFC CEO Dana White.

Muhammad Mokaev fires back at Dana White 

Mokaev called out White and believes he has fulfilled the requirements UFC CEO laid out for him, after leaving the promotion. He pointed to his recent run as evidence that he has continued to improve and prove himself despite being outside the promotion.

"Dana said two years ago, 'Become champion somewhere else.' I became BRAVE CF champion, ACBJJ champion, 5 fights, 4 finishes, staying busy and showing the world why I'm the best flyweight in the world,"  Mokaev said.
