Jorge Masvidal Announces Two Fights for December Gamebred FC Event
Jorge Masvidal had released two new fights for his Gamebred FC event in December.
Jorge Masvidal’s Gamebred FC is set to return in December, with the promotion heading back to Miami, Florida. While the main event for the upcoming card remains unconfirmed, Jake Noecker reports that Masvidal has revealed two fights that have already been agreed for the event.
Two Fights Set for December Gamebred FC Event
The first bout will see Kurt Holobaugh return to the promotion to face Luis Pena. Both fighters have previously competed under the Gamebred FC banner, with Holobaugh holding a perfect 2-0 record and Pena boasting a 1-0 record.
Both men also have experience competing in the UFC. Holobaugh won The Ultimate Fighter Season 31 after securing three finishes during the tournament. However, his UFC career has been inconsistent, suffering three consecutive defeats during his second stint with the promotion after going 0-1 in his initial run.
Pena, meanwhile, was released from the UFC following his arrest for domestic battery. During his eight-fight run with the promotion, he secured several notable victories, including a win over Steve Garcia. That result has aged particularly well given Garcia’s subsequent success in the UFC.
The second confirmed matchup will see Brandon Girtz take on Landon Quinones. Girtz has started his Gamebred FC career with two consecutive victories, while Quinones holds a 1-1 record in the promotion.
Girtz brings considerable experience into the contest, having competed 16 times under the Bellator banner. He finished that run with an 8-8 record, earning victories over notable names such as Melvin Guillard and Derek Campos.
Quinones, meanwhile, has considerably less professional experience, entering the contest with a record of 7-3-1 across 11 fights. He also made two appearances in the UFC, suffering decision defeats against Nasrat Haqparast and MarQuel Mederos.
With these two matchups reportedly agreed, Gamebred FC’s December return is beginning to take shape. However, fight fans will have to wait for further announcements to discover who will headline the Miami event.
