Kevin Holland Reveals How Many Fights he Plans Before Retirement

One of the UFC's most active fighters says he already knows roughly how many more times he wants to step into the Octagon.
Kevin Holland may still have plenty left to accomplish inside the Octagon, but the veteran already has an idea of when he'll hang up his gloves. His next fight against Jacobe Smith at UFC Oklahoma City will mark his 30th appearance in the promotion. "Trailblazer" is already counting how many more bouts he plans to have before retiring from MMA.
Kevin Holland Already Has a Retirement Plan
Few fighters on the UFC roster are as active as Holland. Known for accepting short-notice bouts and staying busy throughout the year, the American already has a retirement plan. Speaking to MMA Junkie Radio, Holland revealed he wants to step into the Octagon eight or nine more times after his next fight.
According to Kevin Holland, he has no need to reach 40 appearances in the promotion.
"The next fight will be the 30th UFC fight," Kevin Holland began. "After 30, I want to get to about 38. 38 is pretty good," Kevin Holland began. "Don't got to go to 40. So eight or nine more after the next one, then that's a wrap. I usually fight two or three times a year, not more than that."
Kevin Holland figures that with his rate of competition, he'll hit the 40-fight plateau quicjky.
"For a second, it was 40. I think Donald Cerrone did 38," he recalls, "so why wouldn't I do 39? I didn't do it as good as him. But I did my number. I did it pretty fast, and it leaves me room to get out before I'm too old. That's a smooth-sailing victory for me. ... I'm just looking at wins and losses, overall. Wins and losses. I'm going to win the next and we'll be close to even. I think his was a little smoother and a little better. So props to Donald Cerrone. There's only one."
Kevin Holland One of UFC's Busiest Fighters
Since signing with the UFC in 2018, Kevin Holland has already stepped into the Octagon 29 times, averaging more than three fights per year. In 2025 alone, Holland fought no less than five times, compiling a 2-3 record.
Most recently, he defeated Randy Brown via unanimous decision in April. Now, Kevin Holland is set to face Jacobe Smith at UFC Oklahoma City, scheduled for July 18.
Although retirement is already on his mind, Kevin Holland made it clear he is in no rush to walk away from the sport. Instead, the veteran intends to stay active over the next few years before bringing one of the UFC's busiest careers to an end.
