The Brazilian acknowledges Tsarukyan's wrestling as a major challenge but says he would rather show his improvements inside the Octagon.

Since making his UFC debut in May 2024, Mauricio Ruffy has already proven himself as one of the most dangerous strikers in the lightweight division. On Saturday, however, he will face one of the best wrestlers in the weight class at UFC Sacramento when he takes on Arman Tsarukyan, raising concerns among fans about whether he will be able to deal with the Armenian's aggressive pressure. Ruffy acknowledges the challenge ahead but is confident he has made significant improvements to his game.

Mauricio Ruffy Acknowledges Tsarukyan's Wrestling

With Tsarukyan expected to rely heavily on his wrestling, questions have naturally emerged about how Ruffy will handle the grappling exchanges. The Brazilian acknowledged that his opponent's wrestling will be a major factor, but said he has spent his camp preparing for the challenge.

"I always want to get better, we know that the wrestling is going to be something that's strong but I'd rather show (my improvements)," Ruffy told UFC On Paramount. "I know he's a very tough fighter, actually probably the toughest challenger (in the lightweight division), it's a challenge, I've trained a lot for this, I'd rather not talk and just show people."

Mauricio Ruffy Prefers Actions Over Words

About to face one of the biggest challenges of his career, Ruffy is not interested in making bold predictions about how the fight will play out. Instead, the Brazilian would rather let his performance answer questions about his ability to deal with Tsarukyan's grappling.

"Talking, anyone can talk, but I like to walk, the actions do the talking."

Ruffy will have the opportunity to prove himself when he faces one of the lightweight division's most dangerous wrestlers. A victory over Tsarukyan would represent the biggest win of his UFC career and could establish the Brazilian as a serious contender at 155 pounds.
