Max Holloway has sent an ominous warning to Conor McGregor as they head into their fight at UFC 329, a rematch that's been years in the making.

Max Holloway has put forth a rather terrifying warning for former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor ahead of their much-discussed rematch at UFC 329.

While Holloway has fought in multiple high-level MMA matchups in recent years, McGregor hasn't competed since he suffered a mid-fight leg injury at UFC 264 in July 2021.

Holloway has now appeared to reference a strategy that many fans and experts believe he'd successfully utilize against McGregor in their upcoming clash.

There's been widespread speculation that the Hawaiian fighter would employ his high-volume striking and cardio to handily drag McGregor into deep waters and tire him out for a late finish.

Max Holloway jests about stealing and modifying a Conor McGregor sobriquet; sends a fierce warning to his fellow UFC great

In a video posted to his official YouTube channel, former UFC featherweight champion and former BMF titleholder Max Holloway provided fight fans with a glimpse into his preparations for UFC 329.

After landing in Las Vegas, the city which would play host to their much-awaited welterweight matchup, Holloway jestingly suggested that he's taken one of McGregor's nicknames, "Mystic Mac," and modified it for himself.

"Blessed" indicated that it's because McGregor had supposedly taken his catchphrase -- 'it is what it is.'

Holloway stated, "'Mystic Max' has arrived. He's taking my 'it is what it is.' So I'm taking 'Mystic Max.'"

When seemingly asked what "Mystic Max" predicts for the upcoming fight, Holloway sent the following warning to McGregor:

"We drown them." He paused and continued, "We drown them. We're going to give them an old Hawaii-style beating and drown them. We're taking them deep waters."

Max Holloway's warning to Conor McGregor for UFC 329 echoes the sentiments of certain sections of the MMA community

As noted, Max Holloway has warned that he'd drown Conor McGregor in their second encounter that'll headline UFC 329 in Vegas on July 11. Holloway's warning is, incidentally, something that a number of observers in the mixed martial arts world have highlighted over the past several weeks.

McGregor's critics have lately emphasized that his lengthy hiatus from professional MMA competition -- as well as his busy lifestyle with various business pursuits -- have presumably prevented him from training at the level he used to back when he was counted among the world's top pound-for-pound fighters.

Some of the Irish MMA legend's detractors and even a few supporters have cautioned that fighting Holloway, a striking savant known for drowning his opponents with a relentless volume of strikes and cardio, is likely a bad comeback matchup for him.

Nevertheless, McGregor has reassured the fans and experts alike that he's left no stone unturned in preparing for his UFC 329 clash.

Furthermore, the 37-year-old has underlined that he already boasts a win over Holloway, a unanimous decision verdict he secured by beating "Blessed" in a featherweight clash back in 2013.
