Paulo Costa continues to show interest in a fight with Sergei Pavlovich, having recently responded to a social media post made by the power-punching Russian.

Paulo Costa is gunning for a big fight in an even bigger division than light heavyweight. He is aiming for Sergei Pavlovich, one of the most terrifying heavyweights on the roster, and isn't allowing that potential fight to die, as he continues his public attempt to raise interest in the bout.

Paulo Costa responds to Sergei Pavlovich

Paulo Costa has been the subject of varying news relating to his next fight. He was previously thought to be in the mix with the top ranked light heavyweights, and a matchup with ex-UFC light heavyweight champion Jiří Procházka was rumored. Unfortunately, that fight never came to fruition, and Procházka will now take on Navajo Stirling at UFC Fight Night 294. This has caused 'Borrachinha' to pivot to heavy-handed heavyweight Sergei Pavlovich, who is rumored to be in talks for a fight with ex-light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.

The bout, however, has not yet been confirmed. Nevertheless, Pavlovich is already training and recently posted footage of himself hitting the heavy bag, while teasing upcoming UFC-related news.

"I'm ready for any news and it will be soon."

The implication is clear. The UFC will announce his next fight soon, likely during the UFC 332 broadcast. While many are expecting it to be a bout with Pereira, who is determined to earn another crack at heavyweight gold, and especially a rematch with Ciryl Gane, the UFC may have other plans for Pavlovich, at least, if Costa is to be believed. Costa responded to Pavlovich's post with a short message, hinting at a possible fight in the works.

"Let's see."

Both men have reversed their fortunes after their initial UFC momentum ended in disaster. Pavlovich was, at one point, on a six-fight win streak, all knockout/TKOs. Unfortunately for him, it came to a crushing end when he faced Tom Aspinall for the interim heavyweight title at UFC 295, where the Englishman knocked him out in round one. Pavlovich then lost his next fight to Alexander Volkov via unanimous decision at UFC on ABC 6. He has since bounced back with a three-fight win streak. Similarly, Costa went 1-4 after an initial 13-0 undefeated run, but has since won two back-to-back fights. Now, he seems to be chasing heavyweight glory.
