Raul Rosas Jr. Willing to Take Risks to Break Jon Jones’ Youngest UFC Champion Record

Raul Rosas Jr. wants to break Jon Jones’ record as the youngest UFC Champion in the next 2 years.
Every athlete wants to set a record that will be remembered for years. In the UFC, there are so many records held by different fighters, from Derrick Lewis’ record of 16 knockouts to Jim Miller’s record of 47 UFC fights. The list is endless. Talking about one such record, the youngest champion record was set by Jon Jones, who became the youngest champion in 2011 when he was 23 years and 243 days old. Meanwhile, Raul Rosas Jr. has been eyeing that record and has once again stated that he will do anything to break it.
Raul Rosas Jr. Still Chasing Jon Jones’ Record as Youngest UFC Champion
The 21-year-old Rosas Jr. said breaking Jones’ record is one of his main goals. He feels he is on the right path and believes a win in his upcoming main event against Raoni Barcelos will help him get closer. Rosas also said he has to be ready to take short-notice fights, take risks, and make a big statement in his next fight. For him, just winning is not enough to set the new record, as he has only two years left.
In his words, “Yeah, that's the goal and I think right now I'm in a good path. Winning this main event, I think puts me in a very good position to keep chasing that dream. I got to be ready for short notice fights, be willing to take risks and this Saturday make a big statement for sure. Not just a win, but I got to make a statement.”
Talking about his career, Rosas Jr. currently has a record of 12 wins and one loss. He is also on a five-fight winning streak. This weekend, another record will be set as the 18-year age gap between the two fighters will be the biggest in UFC history. It will also be his toughest test yet, as Barcelos is also riding a five-fight winning streak.
Raul Rosas Jr. Could Retire at 25 After Chasing UFC Gold
Rosas Jr. says he could retire from MMA when he turns 25 if he achieves everything he wants. His goal is to win the UFC title, defend it a few times, and then move up to a higher weight class. He even wants to move up two weight classes before possibly stepping away from the sport.
“If by 25 I’ve accomplished everything I want then I’m gonna step back from the sport. The goal is to get the belt, defend it a couple times then go up a weight class, maybe two,” Rosas Jr. stated.
For now, Rosas has to beat Barcelos to achieve what he is thinking of doing.
