Tyson Fury says he doesn’t really understand MMA and isn’t a big fan of the grappling side of the spor
Terence Crawford previously talked about MMA, and fight fans didn’t take it well. He first praised the brutality of leg kicks and the sport in general but later took shots at MMA fighters over their pay and their abilities in boxing. Fury has now jumped into the conversation with a pretty similar opinion. It is worth remembering that ‘The Gypsy King’ has actually been in the ring with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. And now he said that he doesn’t understand MMA and wants nothing to do with the grappling side of it.
Tyson Fury Says He Only Enjoys MMA When Fighters Are Standing
Fury came straight out and said MMA isn’t really his thing, particularly when the fight hits the ground. For him, the sport only gets interesting when two fighters are on their feet trading punches.
“Again, I don't know. I don't understand MMA at all. For me, MMA only becomes interesting when they stand up and hit each other in the face. When they are wrestling on the ground, that's not for me,” ‘The Gypsy King’ said on Alf Global.
Many fans have made similar complaints about grappling-heavy fighters like Khamzat Chimaev and Islam Makhachev and others. Despite knowing very little about MMA, though, the British boxer has no problem reaching out to UFC boss Dana White when he needs something done.
Tyson Fury Invites Dana White to Be His Manager
Tyson Fury has thrown the door wide open for Dana White to come in and help make his next big fight happen. The 38-year-old doesn’t care what role White takes, whether that’s advisor, trainer, manager, or simply someone who helps get the fight over the line. In a recent video, ‘The Gypsy King’ said:
"If Dana White wants to be involved he can come in on my side. He can be apart of me. Get in, Dana. You wanna make the fight? You come on my side. Be an advisor. Be a trainer. Be a manager. Be whatever the f**k you want...It does not matter who is involved.”
Fury isn’t picky about who gets involved either, throwing out names like Bob Arum and Eddie Hearn as well. His message to Dana was pretty straightforward. You want to make this fight happen, get on my team.
