Tyson Fury explains why MMA stars like Ilia Topuria should be welcomed into boxing: “It’s about popularity today”

Tyson Fury shared his thoughts on MMA fighters crossing over to boxing and explained why he believes the growing crossover can benefit both sports.
Ilia Topuria is considered to have one of the best boxing skills in the octagon, with many believing that he can give a tough test to some of the best boxers in a boxing ring if he fully transitions from MMA to Boxing.
The former UFC double champion has expressed his desire to test himself inside the ring and previously called out boxing great Terrence Crawford for a potential fight.
Not only Topuria but many MMA fighters want to transition into boxing, and the former boxing heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, has weighed in on whether MMA fighters should come to the boxing ring.
Tyson Fury addresses Ilia Topuria's boxing ambitions
Recently, speaking on ALF Global, the host pointed out that MMA fighters are transitioning to boxing and taking on top boxers, and highlighted Topuri's desire to switch to boxing. To Fury.
Rather than opposing MMA fighters entering boxing, Fury believes their popularity should be embraced because they can attract significant attention, ticket sales, and viewership, and feels it will only benefit both sports.
“If they’re popular and famous, then they can cross over into any other combat sport because it’s about popularity today, how many tickets they can sell, how many views they can generate. I think it’s good for both sports,” Fury answered.

Many popular MMA fighters have transitioned to boxing, and one big reason is the boxing paycheck, which is usually higher than what they were earning in an MMA fight. while top boxing stars can command massive purses, fighters at lower levels of the sport may not necessarily earn more than their UFC counterparts.
Unlike UFC or MMA promotions, boxing largely depends on individual matchups rather than the overall card or event. The biggest stars can generate enormous revenue from their names and opponents, making crossover fights particularly appealing for established MMA fighters.
As for Topuria, a transition to boxing seems unlikely for now, as he lost the UFC lightweight title to Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250, arguably the biggest upset of the year. This defeat marked his first loss in his career.
Anticipation for his comeback has already been building among fans, as he will return after a brutal loss that cost him his undefeated record. Many have questioned whether he will ever be the same after such a setback. His close friend and former UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili addressed that and gave a positive answer.
Merab Dvalishvili predicts a great comeback for Ilia Topuria
Topuria suffered significant injuries against Gaethje he was left in a bloodbath. Later revealed that he suffered from a broken nose and fractures to both his orbital bones. Such a loss can surely take a toll on a fighter's mentality, and if it's their first, it raises questions about their future. Will they overcome and return as the same? Dvalishvili does not doubt his friend's return dominantly.
In his interview with Ariel Helwani, Dvalishvili shared that ‘El Matador’ is in good space, having his best time, predicts a dominant comeback, and claimed he will recapture the title.
“As you guys all see, he's having a great time. He's enjoying life. When he comes back, he will get back the belt and he will beat everybody. Nobody can stop him," Dvalishvili said.
