“You run it back”: Dustin Poirier calls for Raul Rosas Jr. vs. Raoni Barcelos rematch

Raul Rosas Jr. and Raoni Barcelos put on a show for the fans at Meta Apex in Vegas this past Saturday. However, the main event ended in a concerning way that left fans worried about the Brazilian veteran.

After grueling four rounds of war in the fifth round, Rosas Jr. took down Barcelos and was about to follow up with ground and pound strikes, but the Brazilian was unconscious before that happened. The referee stepped in and stopped the fight.

Barcelos was lying on the canvas, unconscious; the exact strike or reason for what caused him to lose consciousness remains unknown. He was stretchered out of the octagon and rushed directly to the hospital. Now Dustin Poirier believes the way the fight ended in the main event of UFC Vegas 121 calls for a rematch. 
 
In a recent episode of the 'Deep Waters' show, the panel discussed the fight between Rosas and Barcelos. Poirier shared his thoughts on the bout and pitched that the American-Mexican and the Brazilian should run it back.

“I think what they should do is, if Barcelos is healthy, if he's okay, everything's good, and you run it back,” Poirier said. “It was a great fight up until that point. The ending, you know, it sucks. You run it back.”

The back-and-forth battle earned Fight of the Night honors. Interestingly, Barcelos was ahead of Rosas on the judges' scorecards, making the potential rematch even more intriguing for fans.

That said, Barcelos has released his first statement after the grueling fight and provided an update on his health.

Raoni Barcelos provides update after frightening UFC Vegas 121 ending

On a UFC Brasil post about him, Barcelos commented that he is doing fine and thanked fans for their prayers and well-wishes.

He also reflected on his war with Rosas, saying he had promised an exciting fight in the lead-up and delivered on that promise.

“Hey guys, I want to let you all know that I'm doing great. And as soon as I can, I will send you all a video! Thank you so much for everyone's love and prayers! I promised a great fight, and I fulfilled what I promised. Thank you, God, and everyone who fought together with me inside and outside of that cage,” Barcelos wrote. 

Barcelos is now under medical observation, and he needs to fully recover before even thinking about a rematch with Rosas.
