At the time of the 24th season of the Ultimate Fighter, many people thought the all champions idea was a lot of fun, it quickly ran its course, and the winner Tim Elliott would eventually lose to Demetrious Johnson

Several years later though, that season of TUF may have saved the division as a whole, as it produced a champion and may have a second one on the horizon in Kai Kara-France.

Kai Kara-France Calls for Title Shot After Destruction of Cody Garbrandt

The talk all week was about Cody Garbrandt looking so good in his cut down to 125 pounds, a process that he said took seven long months and a move he wished he had made earlier. The only problem is that Kara-France didn’t care about any of that and went after Garbrandt right off the rip of in round one.

Cody Garbrandt’s chin started to become a problem in his natural bantamweight, a division he was once the champion of, and thus the move down made sense for him. It gave him a fresh start, but the matchup with Kai Kara-France was a tough one from the day it was announced. Kara-France had been 3-2 in his last five, but with one of those losses being to current champion Brandon Moreno, he was still seen as a contender in the division.

He would prove why very quickly.

The flyweight division may have a new contender after two impressive finishes by the City Kickboxing product. He has unfinished business with the champion but said he wants the winner of the trilogy title fight in January between Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo. Daniel Cormier said on the broadcast that he thought a good matchup would be against fellow former Rizin fighter Manel Kape.
