Jon Jones has seemingly shut down any rumours of a UFC return after a recent interview. After retiring as the undisputed heavyweight champion in June of last year, there have been constant rumours of a potential return for the man who has been widely considered the GOAT for a long time.
In his recent interview with Helen Yee, however, it appears as if Bones might be done.

‘I think I could be done’: Jon Jones Seemingly Confirms Retirement
Speaking to Yee on a range of topics, Jon Jones stated: “I think my best self is on its way, and that’s a person without fighting, and I’m excited to meet this guy, to forge this guy.”

After discussing a life outside of fighting, Yee questioned Jones as to whether he was announcing his retirement, to which he responded:
“I think I could be done. I’m young enough to compete with some of the best fighters in the world, I am healthy enough to compete with some of the best fighters in the world, but I’ve always been used to competing with the best in the world. So I don’t know, that’s a really high standard to uphold.
So maybe it’s about doing it, doing it right and getting out at a really good time, you know? I don’t want to be one of these fighters that win some and lose some, and can’t remember what your name is. I met a fighter a few years ago, he didn’t know what his birthday was, and that’s a lot of fighting. So I’m far from that, and I don’t want to know what that looks like.”
Contradictary Statements
Whilst Jones’ comments are interesting, they’re certainly contradictory. He stated that he “is young enough to compete with some of the best fighters in the world”; however, he retired when he was faced with a fight with the interim champion, Tom Aspinall.
He also said, “I am healthy enough to compete with some of the best fighters in the world”; however, he’s said that he’s suffering from severe hip arthritis.
Contradictory statements have become the norm for Jon Jones, despite being one of the best fighters we’ve ever seen in the UFC.
