Dan Ige says Bruce Buffer ruined his focus before his last UFC fight.

In the UFC, Bruce Buffer is one of the icons who stands alongside Dana White, Joe Rogan, and others. He has been a voice of the company since 1996. Many fighters dream of getting the title of ‘The One and Only’ during their introductions. However, only Jon Jones, Conor McGregor, and Alex Pereira have received it. Talking about Buffer’s introductions, Dan Ige has now said that one mistake by the announcer caused him to lose his fight.

Dan Ige Jokes Bruce Buffer Cost Him His Last Fight

As per Ige, in his last fight against Melquizael Costa, he had visualized Buffer introducing him as Dan ‘100 Grand’ Ige. However, Buffer introduced him as Dan ‘100K’ Ige, which threw him off, and he joked that’s why he lost the fight.

“This is why I lost the last fight by the way. I’ve visualized 100 Grand Dan, I’m in the moment, Bruce Buffer is about to drop it and he goes … Dan 100K Ige. It threw me off right there and that’s why I lost the fight,” Ige said.

Obviously, it was said as a joke, and Ige didn’t really lose the fight because of the introduction. Costa knocked him out in the first round. Recently, Ige’s run has been really off, as he has lost 4 of his last 5 fights and is now ready to take on David Martinez.

David Martinez Is Excited to Welcome Dan Ige to the Bantamweight Division

After his featherweight run got derailed with so many losses, Ige has now shifted to the bantamweight division. He has been a veteran of the game, as he has been fighting in the company for almost a decade and has earned big wins over fighters like Edson Barboza, Andre Fili, and more.

Additionally, he has also fought some of the best fighters in the division, including Diego Lopes, Lerone Murphy, Movsar Evloev, and more. Meanwhile, ahead of his bantamweight fight, his opponent shared a message for him.

In his words, “It's an honor to fight with Dan Ige because he has a lot of time in the company and he has a good record and it's a very special fight because it's a special event and I am ready for this fight. I am happy to welcome Dan Ige for the bantamweight. This is a different division. He has good fights in the other division. He fights with the biggest name in the other division but this is a different division, different people.”

Indeed, it will be really interesting to see how he performs in this division. If he gets the win, it will make the bantamweight division more exciting.
