The very first fight on the Facebook prelims was a lightweight match-up between Abel Truijillo and Roger Bowling.

Unfortunately after nearly two full rounds the fight was ended due to a no-contest. Trujillo escaped a late submission attempt in the second round and landed a so-called illegal knee strike. Referee Rob Hinds was going to deduct a point for the blatant knee strike, however Bowling was ruled unable to compete, so the bout was ultimately ruled a no-contest.

Following the fight Trujillo was very emotional and expressed those emotions.

“Both of those knees were legal. I saw he was breaking, and I hit the second knee at the top of his chest. The punch is what really hurt him. He acted his way to a no contest.”

UFC President Dana White immediately took to Twitter to state his dismay in the situation.

Both those knees were legal!!! Trujillo should have won

At the post-fight press conference, White was asked about that fight and he responded by saying that Trujillo should have won that fight with Bowling and he would pay him his win bonus.
