Boxing fans react to Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn after both fighters successfully made weight ahead of their highly anticipated welterweight showdown.
Ryan Garcia is set to put his WBC welterweight title on the line against Conor Benn in the event headliner at T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday. Before the weigh-ins, there was tension among fans about whether Benn would be able to make the 147-pound welterweight limit, as he had earlier confessed how hard it was for him to make the weight.
However, the boxing fans can now sleep peacefully as Garcia and Benn both successfully made weight for their fight this weekend.
Fans react to Ryan Garcia vs. Conor Benn weigh-ins
The official weigh-ins took place at UFC Meta Apex in Las Vegas. Benn hit the scale first at 146 pounds. The champion weighed slightly later than the challenger and hit the scale at 145.5 pounds.
‘Boxingnewsonline’ shared the weigh-in video on their Instagram handle. This sparked a wave of reactions from boxing fans, and with the weight-cut concerns out of the way, they reacted to the fighters’ physical condition as they stepped on the scale, with many commenting on their shape while sharing their predictions for the highly anticipated matchup.
One fan had little doubt about the champion's chances, simply writing, “Easy win for Ryan”
Another fan focused on Benn's physical condition and praised the British contender, “Benn is in fantastic shape”
However, not everyone was convinced that Benn was ready for Garcia. One fan admitted, “I'm scared for conor honestly”
Another fan backed Benn despite acknowledging Garcia's credentials, “For me Ryan is the most relevant and proven but i think connor will win”
There was also a fan who appeared to question Garcia's confidence heading into the matchup, commenting, “Where the energy now Ryan?”
One particularly confident Garcia supporter went even further. He suggested Benn could be in serious trouble despite appearing relaxed during fight week, “Connor Benn can smile and laugh all he wants, pretend he's good and ready. But deep inside he knows he's cooked! Dead man walking”

Garcia, before the weigh-ins, warned Benn that the huge weight cut would affect how his brain would react to punches and said it could create serious problems for the challenger when they stepped inside the ring. The reigning champion also feels that the Brit will use everything he has and might use dirty tactics in the fight.
Ryan Garcia expects Conor Benn to resort to dirty tactics in title clash
In the pre-event press conference, Garcia was asked about his expectations for the fight against Benn. He stressed that he is prepared for anything the British contender might bring. The champion believes the challenger might resort to dirty tactics to gain the edge, but claims he has prepared for everything.
"He's going to try real hard. We know that. He's probably going to have to try to resort to some dirty tactics, so we'll be prepared for that, and we're just going to do what we do best, which is stay sharp, be ready for everything, and we're prepared, man," Garcia told the presser.
