The #2-ranked welterweight accused Michael Morales of delaying their fight despite the UFC sending them a date.

Ian Garry has been vocal about fighting Morales after he fell short of capturing the welterweight title against Islam Makhachev at UFC 330 in August.

The #3-ranked contender‌ last fought in November 2025. While Garry appears to be more interested in the fight, Morales doesn’t feel the same way.

Ian Garry Calls Out Michael Morales

The Irish welterweight claimed on Instagram that the UFC wants this fight to headline an event and has already scheduled a date. He also claimed to have personally reached out to Morales. However, nothing seems to be coming to fruition.

"You're making excuses already. UFC sent the date. I DM'd you myself. You make it all public, but behind the scenes, I'm getting a different message. The world knows I'm anyone, anytime. How long has it been since he's fought?" Garry said.

Garry is coming off a loss, and the Morales fight would serve as a way back to the title. However, for Morales, he is undefeated in his professional career with a total of eight straight wins in the UFC.

Considering his run, the Ecuadorian appears to be a viable challenger for the title next, and he is aiming for it.

Michael Morales Wants a Title Fight With Islam Makhachev

Michael Morales posted a video on his Instagram calling out the division’s kingpin, Islam Makhachev, and rejecting Ian Garry. However, Makhachev is more interested in fighting Carlos Prates.

Morales also took aim at the champion, accusing him of choosing an easy fight. Nevertheless, Morales is ready to face Shavkat Rakhmonov if he is not fighting for the title next. However, he wants a title fight if he wins.

"Islam, since you came to my division and took the belt, I have been asking for the fight, you know who I am. About Prates and me, you said, ‘Let them fight’; alright, I respect that. But after that, no more excuses. You and me for the belt. Prates, you said the UFC never offered you the fight with me. You said you will knock me out in the first round, perfect bro, let’s do it. You want the belt, I want the belt, let’s find out who’s next," Morales said.

"But, if you guys have different plans, Islam, if you prefer Prates because you prefer an easier fighter, I have (my fight) for 2027. The final boss of this division, Shavkat Rakhmonov. You know where to find me. Oh, I almost forgot, f**k Ian Garry," Morales concluded.

With the contenders having a clear vision of what they want next, the division appears to be moving in the right direction. Now, the final decision rests with the champion and the UFC.
