Ilia Topuria has come out in defense of his ex-wife, Giorgina Uzcategui. The MMA superstar has also lambasted his UFC Freedom 250 opponent, Justin Gaethje, for his recent remarks regarding them.
The feud between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje has lately escalated after its initial phase had seen both fighters be quite cordial with each other.
For his part, Topuria has now taken to social media to defend Giorgina Uzcategui, his former partner and the mother of his daughter. "El Matador" has also outlined how Gaethje allegedly made their UFC rivalry personal.

Ilia Topuria entered the elite club of UFC double champions last year, as he knocked out Charles Oliveira to capture the vacant UFC lightweight championship. The ex-UFC featherweight titlist then announced a hiatus from MMA competition late last year, amid speculation surrounding his legal battle with his ex-partner, Giorgina Uzcategui.
Meanwhile, ex-BMF champ Justin Gaethje outpointed Paddy "The Baddy" Pimblett earlier this year to capture the interim UFC lightweight belt and earn a shot at undisputed 155-pound gold against Topuria.
Presently, Topuria is booked to clash against Gaethje in a title unification matchup, with the victor walking out as the undisputed UFC lightweight champion. They'll headline UFC Freedom 250 at the White House on June 14.

The 29-year-old Ilia Topuria recently took to X to respond to footage of John Ray Gaethje, the father of the 37-year-old Justin Gaethje. In a video put forth on Justin's official YouTube channel, John labeled Topuria as a "little, short guy." He also implied that his son would easily beat the Georgian-Spaniard fighter.
In his response on X, Topuria expressed his disagreement with John, further affirming that he'll defeat Justin in their upcoming fight. Meanwhile, Justin spoke to Fox Sports Australia and alluded to Topuria's divorce from Giorgina Uzcategui.
Gaethje insinuated that he wouldn't want to stay with Topuria. The American fighter said, "I would leave him (Topuria). That's all I'm saying. I would leave him."
Well, Topuria had an NSFW gesture and some fighting words for Gaethje in response -- as seen in episode No. 1 of the UFC Freedom 250 Embedded: Vlog Series recently posted to the UFC's YouTube channel.

Taking to X, "El Matador" has now defended his ex-wife as well as explained how Justin Gaethje allegedly turned their UFC feud from a professional one into an extremely personal one.
Ilia Topuria wrote, "Justin crossed a line. What happened between my ex-wife and me is our business. We may no longer be together, but she is the mother of my daughter."
Topuria continued, "To everyone insulting her or speaking about things they know nothing about: show some respect. You don't have to respect our relationship. But respecting someone's mother should be one of the most basic codes in life. Be better."

Not one to be outdone, Topuria fired back, "You should've kept your father out of this. He was the one calling me a short guy and saying you'd smash me, all while holding a beer in his hand. Then you started talking about my divorce and telling the world you wouldn't want to be my roommate. Idiot."
The lightweight kingpin added, "First, we're fighting, not dating. Second, I'm not looking for a roommate. When I put you to sleep and you're lying there next to the rose, I'll look at your father and ask him one simple question: Who's the short one now? I'm gonna break you Justin."
