"Your son already knows" - Ilia Topuria responds to Justin Gaethje's father's prediction for UFC Freedom 250
Ilia Topuria has issued a chilling response to Justin Gaethje's father after the latter gave his prediction for their UFC Freedom 250 showdown.
Undefeated MMA superstar Ilia Topuria is on a collision course with fellow fearsome knockout artist Justin Gaethje.
On one hand, Topuria, a former UFC featherweight titlist and the reigning UFC lightweight champion, looks to extend his win streak in the sport of mixed martial arts to 18.
On the other hand, Gaethje, an ex-BMF titleholder and the reigning interim UFC lightweight champion, seeks to improve his win streak to three, having won his last two octagon outings.
The two lightweight titlists will clash in a title unification matchup to determine the undisputed UFC lightweight champion. Their much-awaited fight will headline the high-profile UFC Freedom 250 event that's being held at the White House in Washington, D.C., on June 14, 2026.
Justin Gaethje's parents express their support for him before Ilia Topuria fight
America's Justin Gaethje is known to share a bond of love and respect with his parents -- his mother, Carolina Espinoza (aka Carolina Gaethje), and father, John Ray Gaethje. Gaethje has often spoken about how hardworking he and his family members are, adding that they tried their best to support his MMA career.
Carolina, who's of Mexican descent, is said to have worked in the postal service. Meanwhile, John, who's of German descent, is said to have worked as a copper miner.
In a video posted to Justin Gaethje's official YouTube channel a few hours ago, Carolina and John addressed a gathering of family, friends, and Justin's fight team. Around the 18:17-minute mark of the video, as seen below, both parents expressed their support for their son, Justin, ahead of his fight against Ilia Topuria.
Ilia Topuria's response to Justin Gaethje's father's UFC Freedom 250 prediction
The video saw Justin Gaethje's father, John Ray Gaethje, predict that his son would perform well against Ilia Topuria, whom he referred to as a "little, short guy."
Suggesting that his son would emerge victorious against Topuria, John hinted at Justin's past points victories against opponents who were shorter than him -- namely, Michael Chandler, whom Justin outpointed once, as well as Rafael Fiziev, whom he's outpointed twice.
Gaethje's father stated, "This is the biggest fight of his (Justin's) life. But, I mean, we've said that three or four other times. So... He's fighting another little, short guy. And he's done really well against (Michael) Chandler and (Rafael) Fiziev, and a few of the others."
John continued, "And I just see the same thing happening for this fight. I mean, this is what we trained for. This is what he's put his whole life into since he was four years old. And I'm excited and ready for it to happen."
Taking to X, Ilia Topuria responded to a post featuring footage of John's aforementioned statements. Capping off his response with a red rose emoji -- seemingly alluding to his tradition of placing a rose for his beaten opponents -- the Georgian-Spaniard Topuria wrote:
