Islam Makhachev and Ian Garry are gearing up to face each other in UFC 330 as the former looks to defend his welterweight title for the first time. While just two days are left for the championship bout to unfold, the two-division champion has shown a thoughtful gesture towards Garry’s kids.

Years back, in 2018, Makhachev's cornerman Khabib Nurmagomedov and Garry's fellow countryman Conor McGregor faced each other in the octagon. While Nurmagomedov and McGregor had a history of intense rivalry and a bitter relationship, Makhachev and Garry share no such bond. And it was reflected in how the Dagestani fighter responded to Garry’s son’s request.

Although his father will be facing Makhachev to earn his first belt, his little son is a fan of his father's opponent. Following their meeting last Tuesday, Ian Garry’s son started crying after the Russian champion left with his entourage. The little boy wanted to meet his father's opponent.

Following that, when Makhachev was made aware of the scenario during the presser the next day, Makhachev stated, "Yeah, sure. We will meet him. I didn’t see him there, but I’ll make him happy.”

With a record of 17-1, he will look to defeat Makhachev, who currently holds a record of 28-1. Just days before the fight is set to unfold, the Irish fighter shared why he feels satisfied to face Islam Makhachev in the title fight.

While speaking with MMAJunkie, ‘The Future’ shared, “Winning a world title in the UFC is amazing. It doesn't matter who you beat to become the world champion. You're forever more a UFC world champion. But just like when Conor McGregor beat Jose Aldo, who hadn't been beaten in 10 years, it's different. OK, this is legit. I've got the opportunity to fight the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter on the planet, a man who's on a record-setting win streak since the great Anderson Silva.”

During the pre-fight press meet, the 28-year-old striker further added, “For me to go out there against him, who many consider to be a generational talent, they're starting to talk about him in the GOAT conversation. For me to go out there and have that as the challenge, that I have to go out and beat to prove not only I'm the champion of the world, but also I'm truly the best on the planet, it's exactly what I want.”
