On Saturday, fight fans learned that the UFC 197 main event was now Jon Jones vs. Ovince Saint Preux. The man known as OSP is stepping in on short notice for UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who was forced to pull out with an undisclosed injury.
The oddsmakers have thought long and hard and Jones is coming in as a massive favourite.
According to MMASucka.com’s Nick Baldwin, Jones opened as a -675 favourite, but is now -800 on 5dimes.com. That means money is already coming in on the former 205-pound kingpin.
If one is looking to make some money on the fight and willing to take an underdog, Saint Preux is sitting at +500 at the moment.
Saint Preux (19-7) has won eight of his last 10 fights, with six of those coming inside the distance. Most recently OSP defeated Rafael Cavalcante at UFC Fight Night 82 in February.
Jones (21-1) never really lost his title — he was stripped following a hit and run incident last April. This will be Bones’ first fight since defeating Cormier in January of last year.
UFC 197 takes place live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 23.
