Khamzat Chimaev Reacts to Probable Sean Strickland vs Nassourdine Imavov Faceoff

Just a few months back, Khamzat Chimaev was at the top of the UFC middleweight division. Unfortunately, trying to defend his title, ‘Borz’ failed to thwart Sean Strickland’s attacks. Having lost the UFC gold, he is now waiting for another shot at the title. But as of now, Chimaev looks happy to play the waiting game.

Following the loss at UFC 328, ‘Borz’ had called for an immediate rematch with Strickland. Unfortunately, despite calling out ‘Tarzan’ on several occasions, the bout did not materialize. Now, there are rumors about Imavov probably getting a chance to clinch the middleweight gold next. 

In a recent discussion with Ushatayka, Chimaev stated, “There's no surprise. How long has Imavov been waiting now? He's already the contender. Whoever wins, we'll take him. Until we break everybody at 185 , I am not going anywhere.”

Earlier, Chimaev expressed his wish to move up to the light heavyweight division. But as of now, those thoughts seem more unlikely as the Chechen-born fighter is fixated on earning back his middleweight title. Meanwhile, Chimaev is currently preparing himself to face Tyron Woodley at RAF. 

Tyron Woodley Confident About Defeating Khamzat Chimaev

The former UFC middleweight champion is keeping himself busy. Chimaev will be entering a wrestling bout in the Real American Freestyle against Woodley. Now, while ‘Borz’ is the clear favorite, Woodley, too, looks confident about his chances. 

Speaking with Red Corner MMA, the 44-year-old said, “It's going to be a tough match. So I'm excited about it. I've been in similar matches in college. I feel like my first match in RAF just kind of got the blood flowing -- mentally, physically, emotionally -- so I'm excited for it… I feel like I've done my homework, and I feel like I'm ready to win." 

Woodley also praised Chimaev’s craft, saying, “Khamzat is very strong, very aggressive. He's also very tricky and technical. So I feel like it's more of a chess match than it is rams beating horns than people think." 

Thus, with a lot of buzz, fans will be eager to see whether Chimaev will be able to get back to winning ways.
