Max Kellerman's use of exaggerated comparisons and unrealistic descriptions of fighters seems to be detrimental to Zuffa Boxing

Max Kellerman has come under some serious heat regarding his approach to promotions lately.

Max Kellerman is currently facing a fall from greatness

The veteran boxing analyst has been facing constant backlash from fans ever since his journey with Zuffa Boxing began. There is no doubt that there are only a few like Kellerman. His in-depth knowledge of the sport is remarkable in many ways. For the majority of boxing fans, he was the voice of boxing, at least at some point.

However, the fans are not quite happy with him recently. Especially after the press conference for the Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua bout.

New York Eric Jackman puts it this way, “In the press conference, he’s spending ten minutes doing monologues when we wanna hear from Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury”.

Although he agrees that “There was a time where Max Kellerman was a sharp, astute, kind of truth-teller in boxing”, That doesn't change his opinions about Kellerman's shortcomings.

“In this capacity, he’s not being used properly. For one thing, at the press conferences, he’s up there kind of just bloviating and saying things that don’t really like help set the table or create any stakes or make you care any more about the fight.”

He, along with other fans, has continuously pointed out Kellerman’s pattern of making unrealistic, exaggerated comparisons.

“He is talking about prelims guys being Muhammad Ali or Mike Tyson”, he said with visible frustration.

Perhaps Kellerman believes his new approach to commentary will benefit the company. In reality, fans have claimed that this has done more harm than good. His elongated comparisons and very obviously exaggerated praise for the new fighters are not selling the fight anymore.

His recent comment about Dana White’s involvement with the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight has also brought significant reactions.

Max Kellerman claims to know Dana White’s part in the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua bout

The rivalry between Eddie Hearn and Dana White is rising every day with the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua bout coming up. Now, there seems to be a new claim regarding the latter’s involvement in the upcoming fight.

In Saturday's Zuffa Boxing show in England, veteran ringside commentator Max Kellerman fueled the fire between Dana and Hearn with his comment.

“Dana White’s involvement in the fight, so people know, is purely in assisting Turki Alalshikh, who has been the engine behind just about every big fight in boxing over the last handful of years,” Kellerman said during the broadcast. “He’s assisting Turki in a personal capacity, not as a promoter”.

However, this was quickly denied by White himself.

“I don’t know where that came from,” White said at the Zuffa 11 post-fight press conference. ‘That was weird. We’re promoting the fight right now.”

Dana White’s role in the bout still remains a controversy.
