Movsar Evloev wants first UFC finish against Alexander Volkanovski

Movsar Evloev has a clear goal for the biggest fight of his career. The undefeated Russian will challenge Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC featherweight title at UFC 333 on Oct. 24 in Abu Dhabi, hoping to accomplish more than simply winning the division's belt. Besides capturing his first UFC championship, Evloev is also looking to record his first finish inside the Octagon.

Movsar Evloev Targets First UFC Finish

Since making his UFC debut in April 2019, Evloev has never lost a fight inside the Octagon. In fact, the Russian is undefeated in his professional career and has won all of his 10 Octagon appearances. However, despite winning every one of his UFC fights, Evloev has yet to score a stoppage in the promotion, making his championship opportunity even more significant.

"This is my first title fight," Evloev told MMA Fighting. "And we're looking to make it my first finish in the UFC."

Movsar Evloev Wants Volkanovski at his Best

Set to face 38-year-old Volkanovski, Evloev doesn't want to hear criticism about his opponent being past his prime. Rather than facing a diminished champion, the Russian fighter insists he wants to defeat the best version of Volkanovski. Evloev also revealed he has dealt with similar narratives before, saying previous opponents were often dismissed after losing to him.

"I used to beat champions before joining the UFC," Evloev said. "And when I beat them, people used to say, 'OK, they weren't that good like before.' I don't want to hear this (old excuse) again, so I want him to be in his prime, in the best condition, so I can show my skills."

Evloev and Volkanovski are scheduled to headline UFC 333 on Oct. 24 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, with the featherweight title on the line. In the co-main event, Petr Yan will defend his bantamweight belt in a trilogy fight against Merab Dvalishvili.
