Paddy Pimblett thinks Ilia Topuria wouldn’t be the same after Gaethje
Ilia Topuria encountered the first loss of his UFC career against Justin Gaethje during their showdown for UFC Freedom 250. The lightweight Title bout ended with Topuria being severely injured and Gaethje claiming the Belt.
However, El Matador is slowly getting back on his feet. A few weeks back, the fighter had posted pictures of his pad work from training. Since then, the fans have been speculating about who his next opponent can be.
His long-time rival Paddy Pimblett has always been a constant possibility. In his recent interview with All Out Fighting, he added fuel to the fire. The British fighter has called Topuria “Damaged goods” after experiencing his first loss.
“A little bit damaged goods," Paddy Pimblett continued,“He's never lost before, so I don't think he'll ever be the same when he comes back”
Pimblett explained how important it is to lose to get back up again.
“You know, I lost my first fight when I was 18 and I had to build myself back up and then I had to do it again when I was 22, 23. He's never lost before and he's about 27 or something.”
“His whole aura was unbeatable and this and that. Now he's being beat. That's in his head. And I'll prove that if I end up fighting him next.” Paddy The Baddy also went on to mention that he is disappointed that he could not be Topuria’s first defeat.
Ilia Topuria might have never faced someone like Paddy Pimblett
Paddy Pimblett believes that he is truly a unique match for Ilia Topuria in the Octagon. The British fighter has challenged the former lightweight champion multiple times previously. However, this time he is completely convinced that he can cut Topuria’s journey in the lightweight division short.
“He's a very good fighter, but he's never fought anyone like me," Pimblett stated. ”I'm too big and too long for him. And I'll show him that when I fight him, when I beat him up”.
The fighter went even further to mention that it was unfortunate that Topuria’s first loss was not against him.
“Yeah, very disappointed that I'm not the one to take his undefeated record, but I'll be the one to send him back down to featherweight, so it's good enough.”
