2025 has been a year to forget for Patchy Mix. It would have started with Mix being pleased to have finally got the UFC contract every fighter craves. Having spent what felt like a lifetime in Bellator, Mix finally made it to the big leagues.

He made his promotional debut against the in-form Mario Bautista at UFC 316, but was easily out-pointed across the 15-minute distance, showing a huge hole in his striking game. Many had picked Mix ahead of the fight, however, he didn’t get off to the start he’d planned.

His second outing came just last month against promotional newcomer, Jakub Wiklacz at UFC 320. The Polish star came into the bout as the underdog, however, he managed to pull off the upset when he narrowly out-pointed Mix via split decision. The majority of the MMA media scored the bout for Patchy Mix, however, two of the three judges that matter had it for Wiklacz.

If going 0-2 wasn’t enough for Patchy Mix, it came out that he failed a drug test dating back to 2024, his last fight for Bellator. Tapology released a statement stating:

We received notice this week of a failed drug test for athlete PATCHY MIX related to his May 2024 Bellator fight against Magomed Magomedov in Paris. Mix originally won the fight via split decision.

Patchy Mix Guilty of Drug Test Failure

Tapology went on to say, it was FMMAF that flagged the issue. The win has not been overturned to a loss, however. Tapology claim that it isn’t the first they have received from FMMAF, although it is the most prominent.

Strangely, Tapology did state that “since we do not feel that showing this Bellator fight as a LOSS for Patchy Mix is in the best interest of our users”. What this means is that, instead of the fight showing as a loss, it is still shown as a win, however, has been flagged as ‘overturned to a loss’ at the hands of the FMMAF.

The original fight saw Mix beat Magomed Magomedov via split decision, with the bantamweight belt on the line. What will happen with fighter pay etc is currently unknown.
