Paulo Costa Publicly Puts UFC on Notice Over His Final Contract Fight

Paulo Costa has been having problems with the UFC for the past few months. The Brazilian has earlier made some serious claims about UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell. Meanwhile, Costa has also made his next move clear. He wants the UFC to give him a fight or release him from his contract.

Paulo Costa Sends Strong Message to UFC

On social media, Costa has made his situation with the UFC clear. He said he has one fight left on his contract, and his contract says it should be a three-round fight. Costa said he is ready to fight anyone in the UFC light heavyweight division. He gave the UFC three choices: give him the three-round fight, book him for a five-round fight with more money, or release him from his contract.

“Ok, I’m making this public and clear: I have 1 fight left. On my contract The purse is set for 3 rounds, not 5. I’m asking for the 3-round fight that was already agreed on contract . It can be anyone on the UFC LHW roaster. I think Hunter has 3 options now: A) Give me that last 3-round fight (I’ll take any opponent). B) Give me a 5-round fight at LHW against anyone in 6 weeks. I’ll take it, BUT raise my purse accordingly. That’s the minimum that’s fair, right? C) Release me from my contract now. Simple and clean. This is not the first time Costa has said the UFC is taking too long to book his next fight. His last fight was against Azamat Murzakanov, where he won by knockout. Costa has also recently signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Talent Agency. Some people believe this has made things between Costa and the UFC even worse.

Paulo Costa and Magomed Ankalaev Trade Shot At Each Other

Costa said Hunter Campbell is making it hard for him to get a normal three-round fight. He claimed Campbell told him that there may not be anyone available to fight him until next year. The Brazilian then asked other UFC light heavyweight to step up if they were ready to fight him.

Costa wrote, “Its incredible CRAZY how Hunter won't give me a regular, standard three-round fight; he insists on keeping it with me. He saying nobody is available till, maybe next year. Can you believe on this bull**it? lol. If you're a LHW in @ufc roaster and want to fight, let's bring it to him.”

Costa’s former rival and UFC light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev also spoke about it. He said Hunter Campbell and UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard offered Costa a five-round fight, but ‘Borrachinha’ turned it down several times. Indeed, it will be interesting to see what will be his future in the UFC.
