Less than a week after moving to 2-0 as a professional, Zambia's Tryford Mwanga already has his next assignment booked. The undefeated flyweight will return at EFC 138 in just two weeks for his third professional bout.

Tryford Mwanga Wastes No Time in Next EFC Fight

Tryford Mwanga's professional career has been nothing short of explosive thus far. The Zambian made his debut at EFC 132 in April, needing just 41 seconds to stop his opponent with punches. That spectacular debut also earned him Performance of the Night honours.

At EFC 137 in early September, he was just as efficient, as he finished Lukhmaan Jhazbhay with a first-round ground-and-pound in less than two minutes. It is notable that both his professional bouts have ended with finishes inside the very first round. Now, just a week after that latest victory, he is already booked for his next fight - and that is in just two weeks' time.

Despite being one of the newer additions to the EFC roster, Mwanga is very quickly making a name for himself in the promotion and cementing himself as a cannot-miss attraction in the flyweight division. He is also quickly becoming one of Zambia's most intriguing young talents on the African MMA scene.

Thapelo Malatjie Awaits Mwanga at EFC 138

Standing across from Mwanga at EFC 138 will be Thapelo 'Rasta' Malatjie, who will be making his professional debut on the night. He will enter the EFC Hex with a 4-1 amateur record. Malatjie was set to face fellow debutant Godfrey Kheola, but this new opportunity gives him the chance to make a major statement upon arrival.

Malatjie brings a very different challenge to the unbeaten Zambian, as three of his four amateur victories by submission. Following two appearances on the EFC Contender Series in 2024 and 2025, followed by more amateur bouts in Versus MMA, Malatjie is ready to step into the EFC Hex as a professional.

For Mwanga, the EFC 138 match-up is another opportunity to build up momentum in the flyweight division, and maybe be the answer to the question of who will challenge Tumelo Manyamala for the EFC Flyweight Championship. Malatjie has a major chance to spoil that momentum, whilst also proving himself as a top player at 125 pounds.

EFC 138 takes place on Oct. 1 at the WSB EFC Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa. The headlining bout will see Matunga 'HHH Power' Djikasa and Terrence 'The Mountain' Born clash for the vacant EFC Heavyweight Championship.
