“Who Is the Top Dog?”: Patricio Pitbull puts Jean Silva on notice

Patricio Pitbull stopped Doo Ho Choi at 3:28 of the opening round in Los Angeles, putting together a strong striking sequence before the referee stepped in. The victory marked his first UFC stoppage since joining the promotion. 

Afterward, the former Bellator champion said he finally felt comfortable competing in the UFC and described the performance as something of a new beginning. 

Patricio Pitbull Wants to See Who Is the Top Dog

Pitbull was asked who he wanted to face next and quickly pointed toward Silva. He said he likes challenges and felt it was his turn to challenge someone after getting the win over Choi. 

 

“I feel in that moment, he’s the dog. He barks, but bites. And I am "Pitbull", and let’s see who is the top dog.” 

 

Pitbull also gave his assessment of Silva’s most recent victory over Jose Delgado. He said Silva looked lost for parts of the fight and claimed Delgado came close to stopping him, although he acknowledged Silva ultimately won and said he believed he could perform better against him. 

Patricio Pitbull Had His Children on His Mind After the KO

The knockout carried more emotion for Pitbull than simply getting his hand raised. He told MMA Junkie that he was thinking about his children while kneeling in the Octagon after the stoppage. 

He recalled how his children encourage him after losses, telling him to keep attacking rather than stop, and said those words were on his mind after beating Choi. 

Pitbull also said he is ready to fight again as soon as next month if the UFC gives him an opponent. He now has Jean Silva in mind, but his post-fight comments made clear that he is ready for another challenge after what he described as a new beginning.
