Ailin Perez Reveals Tense Norma Dumont Face-Offs Continue After Controversial UFC Fight

Allin Perez took on Brazil’s Norma Dumont in a bantamweight clash, with the rivalry between the two adding plenty of tension to the matchup. Perez ultimately edged the veteran by split decision, but the controversial result did little to settle their differences. If anything, it appears to have added more fuel to a feud that was already brewing.

Now, the 31-year-old has revealed that the tension between the two has continued beyond the Octagon, claiming Dumont still tries to intimidate her whenever they cross paths at the UFC Performance Institute and even sent her a threatening message after their fight.

Ailin Perez Reveals Norma Dumont’s Threatening Post-Fight DM

Much like her nickname, “The Immortal,” Dumont appears to have no intention of letting her rivalry with Perez fade away. During a recent appearance on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” the Argentinian revealed what happened between the two bantamweights after their controversial UFC Fight Night clash.

“We don’t like each other. We’re not friends; we’re never going to be friends,” Perez said.

The bad blood between the two was hardly a secret heading into the fight. Perez and Dumont were seen headbutting each other before and after their bout, making it clear that there was more at stake than just a win on the scorecards.

Once things were settled inside the Octagon, Perez appeared willing to put the rivalry aside. Extending an olive branch, “Fiona” even penned a message on social media thanking Dumont for the gritty fight.

Dumont, however, seemingly had other ideas. During her conversation with Helwani, Perez revealed that the Brazilian bantamweight contacted her privately on Instagram after the fight with a belligerent text.

“Funny enough, after the fight, she actually wrote to me personally in my Instagram. And she actually told me that after the fight, she’s going to find me and beat the sh*t out of me,” Perez revealed.

Perez also showed the DM during the interview, with her translator explaining the message in Portuguese: “I already hit you once, and I’m going to hit you again when I see you. You already know that you didn’t win.” 

Perez on Dumont's Conduct Before Fight

Reflecting on the same, Perez (14-2-0) also shed light on Dumont’s behavior leading up to the fight. From Instagram stories aimed at taunting her to the Brazilian’s icy demeanor whenever they crossed paths at the UFC Performance Institute, the Argentinian revealed just how deep their animosity had become.

“So every single time that she sees me in the PI, she tries to look at me all hard like she’s going to hit me. And even when we’re inside the locker room and we run into each other, when I’m by myself, she will try to do things to me, make me think that she’s about to attack me, but she never does,” Perez said.

Despite all the animosity, Perez also pointed to an interesting difference in Dumont’s behavior depending on who is around her.

“But she’s only like that when she’s around her female friends. Usually, when she’s with her boyfriend, she will have her head down and try to be more humble because I think she doesn’t want to get into it with him there,” Perez added.

Perez Reveals What She Believes Started the Feud 

According to Perez, the bad blood between the two had been simmering long before they finally shared the Octagon.

Pointing to their previous appearances on the same UFC cards, Perez believes this was one of the reasons the tension began to grow. She claimed Dumont (13-4-0) became resentful as Perez received more attention, while also bringing up their history of alleged rejected matchups.

“We shared cards together in the past where we were both the two big butts of the card, and I think there was a lot of jealousy and envy that she was feeling watching me be the star of the show,” Perez said.

In addition, the No. 2 ranked bantamweight also claimed that the two had previously been linked to potential fights that never materialized, alleging that Dumont had turned down opportunities to face her before later suggesting that Perez was the one avoiding the matchup.

Marco Tulio Adds Another Layer to Drama 

“On top of that… there have been so many times where she’s declined to fight me and then come out and said that I declined to fight her,” she added. Perez believes there was another factor behind the tension: Dumont’s boyfriend, UFC middleweight Marco Tulio. 

According to Perez, Tulio’s attention toward her allegedly added another layer to an already uncomfortable relationship between the two fighters - “I definitely think it’s because she’s jealous of my butt, but also because of her boyfriend. Every time that we saw each other, he would look at me, and I think that would really bother her,” Perez claimed.

In all honesty, whether that was the true starting point of their feud remains a matter of perspective, but there was certainly no shortage of hostility once the two finally crossed paths in the Octagon.
