Alex Pereira Claims he Spends his Leisure Blocking his Haters

Alex Pereira last appeared inside the octagon on June 14 to face off against Ciryl Gane in UFC Freedom 250. With a record of 13-4, the 39-year-old fighter moved up to heavyweight in an attempt to become the first three-division champion in UFC history. However, he lost to Gane by knockout in the second round.

Following that loss after his transition to heavyweight, the São Paulo-born fighter has been facing online criticism. However, ‘Poatan’ has figured out his own way of dealing with the matter. Recently, the former two-division champion reflected on how he manages his own social media accounts and deals with online trolls. 

Alex Pereira Goes on Blocking Sprees

“Whenever I do have time, I go in there and delete and block everyone myself. Sometimes I'm on a flight, and if there's Wi-Fi and I have nine hours to kill and I'm not sleepy, I'll just sit there blocking these people,” shared Pereira.

After his loss at UFC Freedom 250, Pereira has been eyeing a title shot in the heavyweight division. While many fans are considering his loss undeserved, the 39-year-old fighter has reciprocated with a blunt take.

Alex Pereira Wants People Who Criticize to Unfollow Him 

Following his defeat to Ciryl Gane, a Brazilian journalist, Carlos Figuiera, stated that Sergei Pavlovich could also be a difficult opponent for him and potentially cause major problems. However, this take did not sit well with the Brazilian fighter. Pereira reacted strongly and disagreed with the journalist. Such a reaction from ‘Poatan’ angered fans, and they started to criticize his response towards Figuiera.

Pereira recently reflected on the criticism and backlash that has been coming his way. During a conversation with Luarta Viana, ‘Poatan’ blatantly stated that netizens who choose to criticize him should simply unfollow him. Adding to that, he stated that he does not consider people who constantly oppose him his real fans. 

“My real fans — not these people who are criticizing me because of some of the things I say. Those people aren't my fans. Those guys can stop following me. They're not my fans. They can unfollow me, I don't care, you understand?,” stated Pereira.

Following his loss to Ciryl Gane, Alex Pereira is targeting a heavyweight return soon. However, the fighter isn't part of a finalized card under the UFC banner yet.
