Ayanda 'The Power' Zwane Set to Return to Action at EFC 139

A featherweight bout between Ayanda Zwane and Yaseen Adams is set for the upcoming EFC 139 card. This comes after Zwane seemingly retired at EFC 137.
A featherweight bout between Ayanda Zwane and Yaseen Adams has been booked for the upcoming EFC 139 card. The promotion confirmed the bout just weeks after Zwane seemingly retired at EFC 137.
Ayanda Zwane vs. Yaseen Adams Booked for EFC 139
Ayanda 'The Power' Zwane will return to the EFC Hex on Nov. 5, at EFC 139 for his 14th professional fight. His opponent will be the undefeated Cape Town-based prospect Yaseen 'Fudog' Adams, and they will meet in a featherweight bout.
Adams enters the bout with a 4-0-1 professional record and trains out of PFA Cape Town, where he is teammates with EFC Flyweight Champion Tumelo Manyamala and EFC Interim Lightweight Champion Adrian Sanchez. At EFC 139, Adams faces the toughest challenge of his professional career, as he takes on the more experienced Zwane.
Zwane last competed at EFC 137 in September, where he lost to promotional newcomer Lewis Mataya via decision. Following that bout, 'The Power' seemingly closed the chapter on his MMA career, as he took off his fight gloves and placed them on the canvas of the Hex. However, this retirement was rejected by EFC VP of Talent and Matchmaker Graeme Cartmell, as well as his opponent on the night.
Now, Zwane and Adams will meet on the EFC 139 fight card, which has been dubbed "The Next Generation Rise" by the promotion. The card will be headlined by the flyweight bout between Coenie Lamprecht and Veja Hinda.
Ayanda Zwane Not Retired?
Zwane's booking for the EFC 139 card confirms that he is not retired following EFC 137. Now, the experienced featherweight has the opportunity to once more make a run for the top of the 145-pound mountain in the EFC. With Faeez Jacobs recently crowned the new EFC Interim Featherweight Champion, the division could be about to enter its most interesting era.
At EFC 137, Zwane did not get the opportunity to address the audience about his decision to retire. Perhaps, at the EFC 139 Media Day, he will give clarity on what the situation was and what informed the change of heart. Regardless, the Zwane versus Adams fight is an intriguing one for the featherweight division, and it could even provide some structure at 145 pounds.
EFC 139 takes place on Nov. 5 at the WSB EFC Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa. The card will be headlined by the flyweight bout between Coenie Lamprecht and Veja Hinda.
