The scene of Umar Nurmagomedov getting knocked out at UFC Shanghai broke lots of hearts, including Belal Muhammad's.

It wasn't easy for Belal Muhammad to watch Umar Nurmagomedov bite the dust at UFC Shanghai. What made it even more unbearable for the former welterweight champ was that Nurmagomedov endured the loss despite being thoroughly dedicated to his craft.

Lately, Muhammad put the words together that described his feelings after watching Nurmagomedov crash to the floor from Song Yadong's thudding strike.

Umar Nurmagomedov’s KO Defeat Left Belal Muhammad Heartbroken

Muhammad has always held Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team in high regard. 'Remember The Name' has also trained with Team Khabib to prepare for multiple fights, including his UFC 304 encounter against Leon Edwards, where he captured the welterweight title.

In an interview before his UFC 304 encounter, Muhammad told Shakiel Majhouri how training with 'The Eagle' and his disciples helped him become better "mentally," "spiritually," and "everywhere." As a result, Muhammad was left shattered after watching Umar crumble on the canvas from Yadong's vicious neck punch in the second round of their UFC Shanghai encounter.

In a recent YouTube video, the former welterweight put his disappointment in words, saying, "Song Yadong against Umar literally broke my heart."

Muhammad also mentioned that Umar's loss, despite his humility and dedication to the sport, hurt him even more. "Not because I hate Song Yadong, but because I know how hard Umar works. Umar is probably one of the nicest human beings, humblest human beings I’ve ever met," said the Palestinian-American. "And I knew once that knockout happened that the Twitter trolls, the Instagram trolls, that just hate them, hate him because he’s part of Khabib crew, right?"

Muhammad doubled down on the alleged hatred toward Team Khabib's fighters, mentioning how Umar would now become the target of such fans. "They always wanted to see Khabib lose; they want to see their team lose, and I know they were going to attack him and come at him hard. It just freaking makes me more mad just because I know how nice he is and how good of a person he is."

Besides Umar, 'Remember The Name' also backed the controversial post-fight actions of Usman Nurmagomedov, who many believe wanted to elbow Yadong after he KOed his brother. Muhammad rejected those allegations, saying, "Imagine that’s your brother, that’s your older brother out there, and to see him get knocked out like that, you can just see how emotional he was. Even Khabib tried to stop him from going into the cage, but there was no bad blood from him. He was just going in there to check on his brother, wake his brother up. That’s just the love of a brother."

Muhammad's words say enough about his unwavering support for Team Khabib. After the disastrous ending to Umar's last fight, it will be interesting to watch whether the next Team Khabib member stepping into the cage manages to make him proud.
