Elves Brener dedicates UFC Vegas 121 win to late Allan Nascimento
The Brazilian lightweight paid tribute to his late training partner after scoring a TKO victory over Josiah Harrell on Saturday.
Elves Brener dedicated his UFC Vegas 121 victory to his late training partner Allan Nascimento. The Brazilian lightweight stopped Josiah Harrell by TKO on Saturday in Las Vegas and immediately paid tribute to his longtime teammate, who passed away in August. Brener returned to winning ways after suffering three consecutive defeats.
Elves Brener Honors Allan Nascimento After Victory
Brener returned to the Octagon looking to rebound after more than a year away from competition. Although riding a three-fight losing streak with his last victory coming in 2023, the Brazilian delivered a strong performance in his return to the cage, stopping Harrell in the first round.
However, Brener's thoughts were already with Nascimento when he celebrated the victory. Speaking in the Octagon after the fight, the Brazilian said he felt his late teammate's presence throughout the night.
"Today is a very special day to remember Allan Puro Osso," Brener said. "He was here with me today. I heard his voice with me. I knew today would be magical."
Nascimento was a longtime training partner of Brener at Chute Boxe Diego Lima and passed away in August after suffering an apparent heart attack while sleeping. The Brazilian also spoke about his teammate's legacy when he talked to Ag Fight after the victory, wearing an armband with the words "Allan Nascimento para sempre" ("Allan Nascimento forever").
"This (armband) is to remember our eternal Puro Osso," Brener said. "Big brother, who always brought out the best in us. He always brought out the best things in us. He was such a light person, a wonderful person. I remember him, and that brings me joy. The only feeling I can feel when I remember him is joy. Because God gave me the opportunity to live alongside a guy like that."
The victory marked Brener's first UFC win since November 2023. The 29-year-old improved his professional record to 17-6 and will now look to build on his return to the win column.
