Fans are unhappy after Dana White announced that Ilia Topuria could potentially face Paddy Pimblett next.

Ilia Topuria has confirmed his return to the Octagon very soon. Following the injuries that he suffered against Justin Gaethje, such a quick turnaround time looks utterly impressive. Now, with a lot of speculation surrounding Topuria’s next fight, Dana White shed some light recently. He hinted that the ‘El Matador’ might face Paddy Pimblett next. Soon after, fans online didn't waste time putting forth their opinions.

One fan said, “even tho it’s a massive fight we want fights headlined by titles. we had events headlined by wmma, bmf, conor, and an interim belt this year. if they make this fight at least add a hw and lhw interim fight.”

Another fan said, “So it’s not happening this year then lol”

A third fan stated, “Dana: Whichever direction this goes, we all win. Translation: I’m getting paid regardless.”

This user complained, “whats the point of having a numbered event if theres no championship belt on the line. isn't that what the numbered events are for?”

An user pointed out, “Enough of this, we need title fight headliners like Natalia Silva vs Wang Cong.”

This fan quipped, “Both already got handled by Gaethje. That's a Fight Night main, not a numbered card.”

Eddie Alvarez is Doubtful about Ilia Topuria Fighting Justin Gaethje

Former UFC champion Eddie Alvarez has spoken up about the one fight he does not want to see anytime soon. With all the hype going on about the potential rematch between Topuria and Gaethje, Alvarez feels that it would be a bad idea to match them up immediately. Thus, White’s assessment of Topuria going up against Pimblett first makes a lot more sense.

Speaking with MMA Junkie, Alvarez stated, “No (there shouldn't be a rematch). He beat the sh*t out of him. If someone beats the sh*t out of you, you don't get a rematch. It needs to be close. He beat the sh*t out of him. You don't get a rematch. You have to at least fight another guy.”

Currently, despite all the noise, no set date for Topuria’s return has been announced
