“I will hurt him”: Tony Ferguson’s challenger makes bold prediction ahead of Misfits Boxing title fight

Tony Ferguson departed from the UFC after suffering eight consecutive defeats. He then entered the boxing ring against influencer boxer Salt Papi under the Misfits Boxing promotion. Ferguson knocked out Papi in the third round to capture the Interim MFB middleweight belt. 

This victory also marked his first combat sports victory in over six years. He then went on to defeat Warren Spencer via unanimous decision and was elevated to undisputed champion.

Now the former UFC star is set to enter the boxing ring as the undisputed middleweight champion against Mahmoud Sebie this weekend. Ahead of the highly anticipated bout, the challenger spoke about his opponents and made some bold predictions for the fight.

Mahmoud Sebie predicts stoppage against Tony Ferguson

For his first title defense, Ferguson was originally set to fight against Kenzo Biyong. However, just four days before the event, the Dutch star withdrew from the bout due to travel complications, and Sebie replaced him on short notice. 

In the interview with ‘Fred Talks Fighting’, Sebie revealed that Misfits had previously offered him two potential opponents, but neither fight came together. When the promotion approached him about facing Ferguson at 165 pounds, he immediately accepted the challenge. He also promised to inflict serious damage on the champion

“I will hurt him. I will hurt him that fight so bad. I was not training to fight Tony Ferguson I'm training to fight anybody because we were in the talk also with Misfits to fight. On that card they offer two names both of them. They didn't accept the fights and when they literally reach out last week about Tony Ferguson with you fight Tony Ferguson 165 I was like hell yeah anytime morning now like any week,” Sebie said.

Despite the short notice, Sebie is confident that he can cause an upset and hand Ferguson his first loss since returning to boxing. When asked how he sees the fight playing out, the challenger predicted a stoppage.

“I say it's second round (0:29) but like He'll be surprised. It could be finished in first round or even if it goes to six round is still,” Sebie predicted.

The boxing bout against Ferguson will mark Sebie’s Misfits debut, and his prediction shows that he remains confident in dethroning ‘El Cucuy.’

Meanwhile, Ferguson, who has delivered two impressive performances in the Misfits Boxing ring, will look to remain undefeated in the promotion and successfully defend his middleweight throne.

The bout will serve as a co-main event and will go down this weekend from the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida. The event is headlined by former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo taking on Javon Walton. Fans can watch the event on DAZN.
